RB133 Serial Port Baud rate

Sat Jun 09, 2007 10:54 am

Tried everything I can think of to change the baud rate on the RB133 serial port for in RouterOS but it refuses to allow the change.

I have PPP running but only just as when the traffic increases the system struggles. I implemented queues with speed limiting but I am still seeing CRC errors. 115K is finicky, particularly with no handshakes, & I would like to get the serial port down to 19K2 or 38K.

I have trawled the forums and noted that this answer has been asked on a number of occasions and could never find a reply...

I should add that I have disabled the services using the port before trying to change it. I note that the console port can only be disabled & not removed.

Re: RB133 Serial Port Baud rate - history repeats?

This seemed like a trivial question and yet it is never answered...

Any clues?

It would appear that the baud rate setting is locked at 115K by RouterOS, strange given that the start-up rate at boot is able to be changed.

Is the assumption correct? if so is there a reason for this?

It is only locked in v2.9. If you upgrade it to v3.0 you will be able to change the baud-rate.
