RadioManager Beta, now available

Tue Feb 08, 2005 8:26 pm

Hi all,

RadioManager is Windows-based application that displays the basic performance status of a MT system in a simple-to-read format, whilst hiding the complexity of the underlying RouterOS, preventing untrained staff from "breaking" the router by accidently changing settings in the all-powerful Winbox.

What we've come up with is a Windows GUI that provides monitoring of a radio link, displaying key parameters with a tabs showing detailed stats on each type of interface - wireless, bridge, and ethernet. If an "engineer/admin" password is put in, some of them can be changed (e.g. radio frequency) - but restricted to the parameters that are displayed, not all of Mikrotik. Here's a screen shot from the 1st iteration:

Thanks to those who requested already - you have been sent the download instructions today.
There are a few features missing, such as serial port access, which will be in the next release.

Anyone who wants to trial this software to give us feedback, please e-mail me directly.
stephen.patrick@cablefree.co.uk

Thanks & regards

Stephen

I have been testing all night long now :-)
and it works, verry god. But i think it is complex for the end users.
lots of information. But for me its perfect.

I will show my version of utility for aligning antennas for the enduser, but that one ist based on read SNMP only

I have a feeling all it does it getting values with SNMP displaying it in a rather unfortunate way...
Something I could also easly display on a website.
More suggestions and info will be sent to Stephen. It still needs tons of work :)

Hi Yazzy,

thanks for the feedback - maybe your expectation was to see something completely different or simpler- the purpose is to show the information on a console rather than expose untrained users to winbox.
Also (not in current version) allow GUI access via serial port or dial-up modem.
It uses Telnet and command line, not SNMP, BTW.
Anyway do send your comments please.

Thanks
