Unifi Controller Nightmare !

Thu May 14, 2020 2:26 pm

Hi Guys,
This Unifi Controller software is becoming a nightmare to setup. For weeks I have tried to get it to find my Lite AC. , but to no avail. My setup is latest Windows 10 with Java 8 [firewalls off ].
My router is from Mikrotik using [Router os] , again with firewall off. I lost count of the times I have reset the AC and uninstalled and reinstalled Unifi Controller........ I am not convinced the uninstaller prog on Windows completely gets rid of it .... I have yet to find that elusive
Setup Wizard that every body says should appear when setting up .I have a Ubiquity Account setup . The Discovery addon does find it , but only gives basic info , mac address .
However thank god , for the standalone link on the Mobile App !!. with the QR scanner , I am able to get this AC working , otherwise it was set for the recycling bin . Other users seem to get it all up and running in minutes , so there is definately something I have missed. A box ticked or unticked. . The cheeky bit is when the dashboard appears , is says Everything is Great..........
Now , I am a complete novice when it comes to computer jargon , I dont know my VLANS from my DHCP's , all I want is for it to work .!!!! so I get can move forward.
Please help....
Thanks

Unifi APs need DHCP server on the same network, so it can get an IP address to start with.
you also need the PC running the controller, to be on the same network, so it can see the discovery package, sent by the APs.

so you should have both the AC Lite and the PC, connected to the LAN side of the Mikrotik, which I assume is your main router.

PS: this is nothing to do with firewall on the Mikrotik, switch it back on unless you have another router between the Mikrotik and the Internet.
and yes, this is better to be on UBNT community forums.
