Not sure how to configure my wAP to inherit all my wifi config

Mon Jun 08, 2020 6:18 pm

I just received my wAP, and tried to connect it to my hapAC2, to extend my wifi range.
I followed mostly this guide: https://www.timigate.com/2018/10/use-mi ... aming.html

I went blindly on the steps, since I want sure how this is supposed to be configured,
But couple of questions and issues came up:
1. Why do I need to configure channels from capsman page?
2. Why do I need to create more security profiles? Can I simply extend my entire wifi setup to the wAP as well? meaning that I dont need to recreate all the settings

Im not sure what my expectations was, its my first time playing with this.
Basically I thought that after I bind the two products, everything that I do on my main router will just propagate to my controlled access points.
Can anyone explain to me what I should do from here?
I tried to configure channel, datapath and assign it to my wAP, and it still doesnt even broadcast the configured ssid

You have connected the wAP to the Hap AC2 with a ethernet cable right?
The guide you linked is for a network of AP connected with cable.
If the radio on Hap AC2 is configured as CAP connected at the same CAPsMAN server of the WAP, both use the same configuration.

Yes, I have an ethernet cable going from my router to a regular (non mikrotik) switch, and to one of its ports, I have the wAP connected.
I see "managed by capsman" on both my interfaces in the wAP (both 2.4 and 5)
What is the purpose of the SSID configuration under capsman menues in the router?
Or the selection of radio and security config etc? If everything is managed by the router, why do I need to configure the wap separately?

I assumed that in wireless configuration of my router i will then see my wAP interfaces and will be able to assign them with AP/vAP as I normally do, but Im not sure if thats the case.
