Audience throughput wifi problem

Mon Jun 15, 2020 6:25 pm

Has anyone tested MikroTik Audience on a 500 Mbit or larger internet connection? I currently have UPC 500 and on their ConnectBox I pull 5 GHz 450-500 Mbit on MacBook Pro 2020 after 5GHz. I used to have Audience for a bit but I managed to get max 250 Mbit which is strange because the router has very good specifications.
Maybe it's a matter of settings ... on default enough teddy bear.
I wonder if I should not take Audience again because I plan to do mesh in a new 78m2 apartment soon. I also care about ipsec.

Which wlan interface are you using? Maybe you can share your setting here and someone might help you to fine tuning it. My experience with Audience is max speed 480mbps with my iPhone 11, interface wlan3(5G2), average speed is 400mbps and low speed is sub 300mbps.

I currently don't have Audience. I had it a few months ago.
So I need to set up a second 5GHz interface for users with MIMO 4x4? And if I want to make a mesh with two Audience in the apartment, then how to set it up?

I have Gigabit service. The Audience Never came close to 500M.

Used it as a WAP running caps-man with it's wireless as the cap. (What it is designed to do). And much like every other Mikrotik WAP I have ever used (ONCE THEY SHAKE THE INITIAL BUGS OUT)... it slammed into a brick wall right around 300M at point blank range.

I did not bother with Mesh as I felt it was too expensive to really use like that.

Seeing as it has the same routing guts as a cAP AC or my personal "budget favorite" the hAP AC2... it will likely be relegated to being a ONE OF PURCHASE... that sits on my shelf of... "Wish i could have returned that."

Dug back into the unit Yesterday.

Defaulted the unit with NO CONFIGURATION.

Manually put in a DHCP client and built a bridge for the interfaces. Put in my Caps-Man Template.

This made it possible to make use of the 4x4 AC radio for clients. The 2x2 5Ghz Radio is currently Turned off... lets see how this goes.

4 Audience units without meshing in a building with 4 floors. 1 unit / floor. All 4 units CAP clients to a RB1100AHx4.
Internet: 1 Gbps up/down fiber.
Client: Intel AX200 and Samsung Galaxy S9+
wlan1 2Ghz 2 chains: ~90 Mbps up and down (might push more, but only 20 Mhz enabled)
wlan2 5Ghz 2 chains: ~500 Mbps up and down (20-30 Mbps lower on S9+)
wlan3 5Ghz 4 chains: ~550 Mbps up and down (20-30 Mbps lower on S9+. Used only during testing phase. Disabled on live install)

All tests done with the client at ~ 3 meters from AP.

Been running Audience as a CAP with an hAP AC2 being the caps-man for about a month now.

Config Results in this:
2.4 2x2 20mhz Ch1
5.0 2x2 80mhz Ch36
5.8 4x4 80mhz Ch149

Pretty much covers the whole house and has better throughput that the hAP AC2 and cAP AC that sat in the same spot.

Its not the Ruckus R610 it replaced. But I have it running a lot better than it did before.
Averages about 30 clients at all times and no one is really "complaining about the wifi". So that's an improvement!
