QRT 2 vs LHG 2 ( or XL version )

Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:43 pm

Hello everyone!

I wonder, how come the price of QRT 2 is more than double of even the LHG XL 2 here in Croatia, and i don't see really any significant differences in their specifications that would justify that price difference?

I mean there are some (appearance, size, 100 vs 1000mb/s eth. port, different chipset, Tx power, gains and sensitivity, license level), but they are really minor for that price gaps, and functionwise they really don't differ.

Does anyone have some experience with the two, and could guide me in the right direction which should i buy?
I will mostly use it while on vacation to connect to local caffe bar and/or while I am at my grandpa's house to do the same.

.
The QRT 2 is marked as Discontinued on the Mikrotik site. It's physical construction would be more robust in your application, moving it often from place to place. It's also lower gain than the LHG XL 2 but the QRT 2 has a L4 license so can be used as a station AP.

I think it is marked as discontinued just recently, like in past month or so, and as for the licence, that is not the problem as i have some L4 laying around.

So what you are saying is that the difference is basically just in their construction (should i say, appearance)?
Like srsly, the more robust construction and smaller size isn't gonna cut it if i need to pay more than double...

I went with QRT 2 as my final choice, the reason being small dimensions (it fits in my bag nicely). So far i can say the sensitivity performance is great, although CPU is not happy when i use NAT on faster speed, and there are some problems with DHCP client when i try just to make a bridge.
