hAP ac^2 behind hEX s router

Wed Jul 22, 2020 4:47 pm

hello
i am just completing the setup of using hAP ac^2 as an AP
for now its configured as Home AP dual and I have configured all ports to be as a bridge, configrued an ip for the Bridge. hAP ac^2 is connected on the ether1 with PoE port on port 5 on hEX s

first I would like to know how that is the hAP ac is available only through my mobile and not from other network devices?
second How can I make sure that the bridge actually works on that device?
will it be better to config the hap ac as CAP only ? what do i lose by doing so?

And bow do i switch between modes besides using the web access will ot be possible to do so on MikApp?

10q

What is your requirement?
If the HAPAC is an AP/switch only, no routing etc,
The HEX is responsible for DHCP and firewall rules.

So Home Dual AP, if includes routing/dhcp would not make sense but a WISP setting would.......
However I am not sure what home dual AP means, it may be fine.

What is it exactly you want to prevent aka requirements........ access to configure the hapac??

I do want the hap ac2 to be available on webconfig within the lan.
Also i wanted to have cspsman to manage the wifi but then i realized that it has to be cap only.

Only use CAPsMAN if you have like 3 or more accesspoints.

Regarding the config:

Reset the device without default configuration and start from there. If you want an accesspoint:

Required
  • create a bridge
  • add all interfaces (LAN and WLAN) to the bridge (here your device will be unavailable for a short period)
  • configure WLAN settings
Optional
  • Add DHCP client to bridge *)
*) Your router will assign an IP address that you can use for webfig.

How do i allow access? Its ether1 connected as the uplink. Probably because its assigned as wan?
How do i configure bridge properly?

i have enabled winbox and http accesss to the lan network and then it started to work.. pretty weird... before there was nothing written and I could reach from TikApp using MAC address and IP only from that mobile.

Thats what i did
Obviously, it isn't.
Because on blank config there are no restrictions from which interface to connect.

And now you start yet another thread caused by the same fact, that you still have some leftovers from the default config.
While you were advised to remove it altogether at least several times by several different people.

Without a config being shown, most folks here are not interested in playing guessing games.
