PPPoE client configuration issue

Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:01 pm

Hello, board.

I'm trying to set up a newly bought RB951-2nD with intent to replace my current DIR-300, but I have a problem.

ISP provides service through PPPoE, when I connect all cables proper and run test for PPPoE concentrator, it seems to see one, but I'm unable to set up client to run. It either stuck at "waiting for packets" or looping with "init..." messages in the logs.

Is there any specific settings I need to perform, or any additional diagnostics I can run?

After a few attempts, the connection finally established.
/interface pppoe-client
add add-default-route=yes dial-on-demand=yes disabled=no interface=ether1 \
    keepalive-timeout=disabled max-mtu=1492 name=starlink password=\
    XXXXX use-peer-dns=yes user=YYYYY
I have two possible explanations:
One being ISP concentrator locked due to multiple unsuccessful attempts, and not enough time passed to release the lock.
Another was that no external requests were going through the router, as last change before yesterday's attempt was that I changed the router IP from xx.4 to xx.1 (the LAN gateway IP).

Check if the concentrator allow your mac address because it can block all the mac address except the first router. If it this you have to change the mikrotik mac with the first router mac
