Simple Queue priority

Wed Nov 11, 2020 3:13 pm

Hi Guys

Wanted to check something.

We run Radius to create simple queues across our sites, the speed rate and burst works great and has for years , but one thing bugs me is the priority, we can set this in the radius and it shows in the simple queue.

we use radius to create the simple queue, with rate ,limits, burst and priority, but no global parent queue, we use PCQ for the simple queue type, will priority work without a global parent queue, do i need one? or will the priority still be working.
i.e
All traffic parent PCQ down Limit xxxMbps and PCQ up limit xxxMbps
Simple queue client created by radius > profile = Queue type PCQ> Parent = all traffic

Or im a i asking for trouble created the parent as PCQ and the simple queue type aslo as PCQ

It sounds like you mixed up simp,e q and pc's config.

Provide export of config on order for us to see how you config looks and can then suggest improvements / corrections

"It sounds like you mixed up simp,e q and pc's config."

I would assume my post made no sense, damn autocarrot!!

Anyway, what I was trying to say is you are trying to mix simple queues with PCQ, these are two different animals, and you should use one or the other, if PCQ, then you set the priority in PCQ Queue type.

My suggestion is to use either one or the other, then configure accordingly

I think you have missed the point.

I use simple queues created by radius. In simple queues you have to tell the queue what type of queue type (profile) so we use PCQ with inside simple queues. I m sure you understand this by now. But if you don't then don't worry i can work this out for my self like i have for the last 10 years.
