Bonding or dual nstreme asking for suggestions/recommendatio

Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:05 pm

Hi there

We have the necessity of upgrade one of our links, that link carry our main internet feed, this link is about 3 miles long, this is due we are currently topping up it available bandwidth.

This links consists of two RB532's w/SR5's an 27 dBi hyperlink's grids, usually connected @54Mbps, the real throughput of this link is around 18-22Mbps Half duplex

So the idea is to upgrade this, and here's the big question and I am asking for your recommendations and experience.

- Option 1: Use a uATX intel mobo w/2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo cpu, 1 GB RAM, 2 pci to miniPCI adapters a XR5 for TX and a CM9 for RX, all this connected to a PacWireless HD Series Dual polarization dish using dual nstreme. (Per side)

- Option2: Use two RB532's with one XR5 on each RB, Nstreme, same Pacwireless HD Series Dual polarization dish, one RB+XR5 connected to Vertical feed, the other RB+XR5 connected to H pol feed, then do bonding of these two links in a third RB532 board. (Per Side)

Which one of these two setups will give me best throughput?
Which one of these two setups will give us better reliability?

I have clear option2 two is a lot easier to implement, because option1 requires a bigger nema box up in the towers, requires ventilation, requires AC voltage upthere instead of PoE....

Best Regards

and it's work verrrryyyyyyy good, till now its 1st year.
bw.....no problem, rate transfer ..the best we have till now.

option3: simply replace the RB532's with RB333's.. Using nstream and regular 5ghz I'm able to get ~34 mbit tcp half duplex..

option4: setup a dual nstream link with a single RB333 and 2 cards on each end and get ~65 mbit tcp using that dual pol dish from 1&2..

option5: wait for the RB600 series and get even more bandwidth from a dual nstream link..

... but you had it indoors and that's totally different than going to real world and trying to consume 80MHz of scarce bandwidth ; not speaking about fact that those 80MHz are more like 100MHz really due to bandwidth overflow.
