It is more likely the often discussed problem with upgrade of these toy devices, you either need to netinstall or install separate packages (only those that you require).Sooo, hap lite no longer support upgrade, is that it?
https://blog.pessoft.com/2019/03/02/mik ... sk-device/factory defaults don't help, you have to netinstall :)
Did you try to first disable all packages you do not need in the installed combined package, and then reboot and try if you can upload only those packages?Required packages also don't fit (dhcp + ppp + security + system + wireless = 6.7 Mb).

Try <6.40 if possible. (smaller, the better)Any other ideas?
See my earlier messages, tried it all, doesn't work. And you can't uninstall bundled packages.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5rdQp3oKvA
MikroTik Tutorial 97 - How to fix hAP Lite upgrade error "Not enough disk space"
remember: start with the minimal package set, and then add the needed ones later.
Never tried: "uninstall" ( not "disable" ) packages not needed for the upgrade process
Very risky since there was major change from master port to bridge and hw offload introduced. If I lose the device I can't netinstall it remotely.Try <6.40 if possible. (smaller, the better)
Also look if there are any files that can be deleted.
Also it is best to not enable the "store on disk" checkmark because keeping Graphing data on disk (flash) causes a very high number of flash writes.Features like Graphing take up space on the disk without actually displaying as files. In previous cases I have had to disable Graphing so that the graph data is deleted in order to successfully upgrade 16MB flash devices.
How more minimal? 6 MB package, 6,6 MB (3%) flash free, but still "not enough space for upgrade"remember: start with the minimal package set, and then add the needed ones later.

"Store on disk" itself is not a problem, depending on how things are configured. In Tools->Graphing, there is a "Graphing Settings" button that lets you define how often the graphing data is written to disk. The default is "every 5 minutes" but you can easily change it to "every 24 hours" if you don't mind losing the last day of graphing in an unexpected power outage, and this greatly reduces the number of flash writes. Also it is best to not enable the "store on disk" checkmark because keeping Graphing data on disk (flash) causes a very high number of flash writes.

I think that is actually not true for those SMIPS devices that have both 16MB flash and little RAM (32MB).In the vast majority of cases SMIPS upgrade problems are caused by RAM shortage and not flash shortage. The error message may be misleading, when it talks about disk space it is usually complaining about RAM drive.
NOTHING IS SAFE... is safe ...
Reboot before upgrade didn't help. Graphing was never used on this device. Nothing fancy in the configuration. This device was succesfully upgraded from 6.46.8 to 6.47.9. And now I can't even downgrade it using limited packages. In the vast majority of cases SMIPS upgrade problems are caused by RAM shortage and not flash shortage. The error message may be misleading, when it talks about disk space it is usually complaining about RAM drive. If you have problems upgrading SMIPS routers try rebooting the device first, then attempt the upgrade immediately after the device is booted. In case upgrade still fails, it most likely means your configuration is too fancy for this tiny device. Graphing was already mentioned above but other features may also occupy too much memory leaving no space for upgrade to succeed.
I need dhcp client + l2tp client to reach it. But without configuration mac telnet wouldn't work anyway. It disabled by default. Only winbox would work with empty config.I mean if you use something to remotely reach the device, lipe pppoe, pptp, dhcp-client, etc.
if by "mac telnet" you can reach device, do a system reset without keep nothing and witout apply any default.
downgrade is like upgrade, you do not resolve anything because if you can not install system, you can not install anything.

Of course. But they can no longer reply in the release thread that it works for them in the testing and that the problem must be caused by having some user file on the device.Pointless. also suggest to paste this on terminal, without omitting { }

You read?Is a Netinstall really such a complicated option?
download packages and netinstall
set static IP on your laptops Ethernet.
disable all other network interfaces
open netinstall, accept firewall exception, set different IP from same static IP network you put on the Ethernet
Close, reopen netinstall, so firewall exception works for sure.
connect ether1 to laptops ethernet.
while holding reset button, power up the device
hold reset until it appears in the Netinstall list.
choose packages to install, check keep-old-config, install.
HAP lite has no gigabit ports, dude right is obsolete and is replaced by winbox right, and INSIDE smips you can't have dude package INSTALLED,Don't see how this is relevant to the issue. For AVN

I appreciate suggestion about ssh, maybe I need to change that, although it's not very important. Everything else I like as it is or don't care about. I don't use ipsec and logging to disk, but I need the dude.

Yes it is. And that's not the only device, there's hundreds of such devices in different remote locations. Is a Netinstall really such a complicated option?
It is impossible too, even with system package only:MT cannot extend low storage for existing devices, but you can get past the low space problem by switching from bundle-based installation to package-based. By default MT routers have almost full bundle installed where you can disable modules, but cannot remove them to free space.
Solution to this is to perform upgrade differently: download all-package (https://download.mikrotik.com/routeros/ ... .47.10.zip), unzip it and upload only packages you actually use, into Files, reboot the router. After reboot, bundle install is replaced with single packages and disabled packages are removed. In the future System -> Packages -> Check For Updates needs less space.

Because also others mikrotik devices have only 16Mbytes of disk space, but, in my case, the upgrade from the 6.46.8 to the 6.47.10 version worked without problem.
If you are not a (W)ISP or distributor, reseller, etc. doesn't matter to you*) branding - added option to upload custom files (newly generated branding package required);
what is the means if this sentense ?
please explain with detail
thank you
Ok, thanks, I didn't know. Sorry but I have no experience with SMIPS devices... and that's not possible with SMIPS, as it is with the others.
In v7 some of the packages that were optional in v6 went into the main system package, so that only makes the problem worse for those SMIPS devices. The V7 NPK still brings Hotspot, but Routing and MPLS are gone. Why not do the same for V6?
I could agree that "mpls, hotspot, ups..." are not the "daily use" packages but "routing" not used in routers? During training classes? The World went crazy :-)for our the training classes, i always give the students the hap lite router
and i always remind them *DO NOT* load bundle package as most of the packages never be used on daily used; such as routing, mpls, hotspot, ipv6......
As I already write on post #29:I could agree that "mpls, hotspot, ups..." are not the "daily use" packages but "routing" not used in routers? During training classes? The World went crazy :-)for our the training classes, i always give the students the hap lite router

That depends on which packages are loaded independentlyso the way-out is *ALWAYS* use extra packages and load the necessary packages only. the result, you will get more xtra space on the router nand.
Usage during training classes is not relevant in this case because in such usage you will also teach the use of netinstall and can easily re-install routers.I could agree that "mpls, hotspot, ups..." are not the "daily use" packages but "routing" not used in routers? I fully agree!Mikrotik really should come up with a "lean bundle" NPK, without MPLS/Hotspot/Routing, that really have no place in SOHO.
This isn't specifically a response to this post, but:dear BartoszP,
yes, on MTCNA class, which topics that the router have to have routing package ?
remember that static routing does NOT need routing package as the function already inside of system.
routing package contain dynamic routing functions such as ospf, rip, and bgp. it only needed on advance routing / mtcre class thus routing+mpls will be needed for mtcine class as well
cheer
Very interesting idea!!!Mikrotik really should come up with a "lean bundle" NPK, without MPLS/Hotspot/Routing, that really have no place in SOHO.
Which version of RouterOS works correctly for igmp-snooping?I've noticed, the igmp-proxy stops working after a few hours. IGMP join requests from downstream interfaces are either ignored by the igmp-proxy or discarded by the bridge. I did a traffic capture on the upstream interface, and no igmp requests is sent, when a client on a downstream interface requests a group.
Disabling und Enabling only the downstream interface in /routing/igmp-proxy makes it work again for the next x hours.
IGMP Snooping is enabled in the bridge.
Yes that is what it is all about: the 16MB flash on these devices both holds the installed version and the downloaded new version. The typical problem situation I have come across is that when the bundle+tr069 package are uploaded, the disk is basically almost full - it shows either 15.9 MiB in use out of 16 MiB or 16.0 MiB in use out of 16 MiB. The ones that show 16.0 MiB in use out of 16.0 MiB typically fail to upgrade.
Did you also try other things, like rebooting the 6.47.10 after some time? It may well be that it is not caused by a software change but just by a bad state on the network that got resolved in the time it took you to downgrade (and would also be resolved by just trying again some time later). After the update, the DHCP-Client stopped working. Problem with obtaining an address from the provider. Back at 6.47.9
Hello Emils, сan you look on my case,Please open a support case...
Hello, everyone experiencing issues with SMIPS upgrading. Please open a support case by sending an unencrypted backup file together with supout.rif file from a device that is currently unable to upgrade or even better, provide a full remote access to your device.
I wonder if it would be too hard to check if package upgrade even works on supported platforms because it obviously doesn't on SMIPS using any standard procedure...Mikrotik Staff, now you have the EXACT procedure for replicate the problem.

On others you go without problems.I wonder if it would be too hard to check if package upgrade even works on supported platforms because it obviously doesn't on SMIPS using any standard procedure...
6.47.10 does work correctly.Which version of RouterOS works correctly for igmp-snooping?
I wonder why you wonder if me or someone wonders why it is not prudent to test something that should be the most common case in upgrade process and write about it to maybe suggest that it should be done in the future... and I am not aware anyone else did it ...On others you go without problems.I wonder if it would be too hard to check if package upgrade even works on supported platforms because it obviously doesn't on SMIPS using any standard procedure...
I wonder why you write if you wonder?
I think further checking has to be done in that testcase. It should not only check "can we successfully upgrade from version X-1 to X" but also "is the free space unexpectedly lower after that upgrade".Thank you for your suggestion, we already have such system where the hAP lite upgraded successfully from 6.47.9 to 6.47.10, so it is not like all of the devices are affected not allowing us to spot the issue before releasing the version.
I hope I have Helped withThank you for your suggestion, we already have such system where the hAP lite upgraded successfully from 6.47.9 to 6.47.10, so it is not like all of the devices are affected not allowing us to spot the issue before releasing the version.
Hallelujah :-) Thank you very much for the prompt solution of the problem. Here is an updated fix_space.npk package for SMIPS devices
The fix works, thank you very much! Here is an updated fix_space.npk package for SMIPS devices which should free up to 1.3Mb to allow upgrading. The underlying issue is fixed in this 6.47.10 version, so the issue should not reoccur again. We apologize for any inconvenience.

on "settings" button, what options are choiced?Good evening! I believe after the update I did on a CCR 2004, fan 1 and fan 2 stopped. And later the temperature is high making a CCR restart, I still didn't have the courage to downgrade again to confirm if that's right. https://ibb.co/3dGmBzM
Good evening! in system routerboard has been updated, but even so fans don't care.on "settings" button, what options are choiced?Good evening! check if the bios on /system routerboard are upgraded,
if not, upgrade and reboot TWICE.
No, I do not see that. But it happens when you have some setting that is different from the default, and that also can happen when the default changes.I had some strange export issue with wifi settings on this release , it's just me or someone noticed something similar too?
Nothing affecting the normal operation of the devices, but still.. odd.
I see exports with nstreme and tx-manual-power variables populated wich I've never set
Hi pe1chl, thanks for your reply. I thought that and, in fact, I've done a complete Wireless Interface Configuration Reset, re-applied my conf via console (thoroughly tested script), exported it and there it was again. Now I don't have any device at hand but tomorrow I'll try to make the conf via winbox if I see any changes. Time to double/triple check my script ;-)No, I do not see that. But it happens when you have some setting that is different from the default, and that also can happen when the default changes.
It is difficult to say anything without seeing the two exports and the version numbers they were made on.

Mikrotik User & Support
Yesterday monring I decide to upgarde following the recommendation of Mikrotik from Long-Term 6.47.9 to 6.47.10 and Today Few minutes ago, I get this error:
" Aug/11/2021 06:50:17 system, error, critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown, probably kernel failure "
EQUIPMENT MODEL
routerboard: yes
model: CCR1072-1G-8S+
serial-number: 727206BA962E
firmware-type: tilegx
factory-firmware: 3.33
current-firmware: 6.47.10
upgrade-firmware: 6.47.10
Question:
What is the reason about Kernel Failure?
I send it an email to support@mikrotik with supput.rif file for identify what is the source of that crash.
Thank You
