Thanks Normis. Quick question, will the 5009 be populated with IPsec results, seem to be missing?

Nice new products! 👍

So RouterOS 7 will be soon in "release" state? Or will the RB5009 and CCR2004 be initially released with the current beta firmware or dedicated factory release?

Best regards

I'm also very interested in what is going on with V7 but more from a wireless perspective and how this may or may not affect me.
Perhaps V7 is left out to have it's own announcement #wishfulthinking

We are putting all our effort into v7 to make it as stable as possible when the v7-only devices start being manufactured and shipped.

I hoped there will be a Version of the 5009 with WiFi (6) in the Newsletter but I guess we have to wait for Months for that.
And hopefully in the ROSv7 the IPv6 features will get an update because you cant do much with it so far.

NO, is 7.0, not 7.1, all unstable and experimental feature are removed.

And do not put beta on it, is unremoveable because the 7.0.4 is not public available.

Yeah, stable does not include "all unstable and experimental" features. That's why 7.0.3 includes e.g. CAKE. Where do you actually get your information from? Is this just gossip talk?

No need for IPSec because Wireguard rules the world now … the RB5009 is not enterprise gear where IPSec is the standard … home users love 💕 WireGuard. SMB will also love wireguard …. It’s becoming a WireGuard world.

And when will the CCR2004 finally work?
Our tickets regarding this box are open for months now without a working solution - the box simply crashes on load.

NordVPN does provide Wireguard but I have not seen a working config for RouterOS. To me IKEv2 is still relevant in combination with my 4011.

Concur msatter, the promise is there, I have it up and running on beta firmware using my iphone (client), an RB4011 (client) and RB450Gx4 (server). If it does work on a release version, there is no reason for this really simple protocol not to work with 3rd party vendors.

It does work, I have a config on a test box. But the setup es not straight forward, you have to extract your private key and the server's key from a Linux box with NordVPN App.

(With that information it is also possible to set up plain Wireguard on Linux without the App.)

Thank for confirming that NordVPN despite the double NAT works. I tried with the NordVPN client to see which ports are used. The download speed was the same or faster. Upload is with 200Mbit/s about half the speed of IKEv2 on a 4011. Despite fast-tracking was active.

Connecting to NordVPN is troublesome since they enfored the new username and password, you have to wait a while before trying to connect again.

I assume the server certificate is the same for all servers from NordVPN.

Update: when putting the WireGuard traffic through a IKEv2, both to NordVPN, I have about 250/250Mbit/s as speed.

Agreed, the push is on. I'm using it, nay, forcing its use. :-)
I did have an issue with a satellite link, however.

Too funny, if you want to fit the 5009 on a full rack you have to buy three more units. :-)

According to official mock-up it's enough to have only two ... ugliness of mounting kit is in line with RB5009 itself:

Probably one shouldn't push that reset button too hard after units are mounted not to tear off those ears. Hopefully they're made of iron and it's possible to weld them back.

Looking at the thickness of the ears you will be needing to put one side in a vice to be able to breaking-wiggle it off. It would be nice if Mikrotik would also cover the 10" racks with one extra ear that is a bit longer.

Those ears are adjustable so one RB5009 could occupy a portion --- either top or bottom. ingenious on the part of Tik

No POE out on 5009? Want poe in to power 5009 and POE out to power Ubiquiti radio. Want to get away with a single Cat 6A cable to the site. The new Ubiquiti airfiber 60 HD, non bonded channel setup , will do 2 GB/S full duplex, so the 5009 2.5 gig ethernet port will support that. So with the 5009 SFP+ LAN connection to the radio SFP+, and POE out to radio ethernet port and with POE in on 5009 2.5 gig ethernet port, I could do the whole connection with a single cable.

Sweet, any wifi/any upgrade(lte, etc) version 5009?

If True:
sleep.(<1month)
buy the best
else:
buy 5009 now

Want to upgrade my EDC (now hapac2. ac3 seems much longer, with no significant differences, 5009 looks solid.)

Good choice to not have WiFi in the 5009 !

One PoE out would have been nice tough to feed an AP.

Isn't that obvious? You can break the long rack ears of and end up with 10" ears.

Not entirely obvious but it might actually work like this.

Reasoning: 10" rack has distance between vertical rails of 222.25 mm (max width of gear that can fit in rack) while RB5009 specification (in product brochure) declares width of 220mm. Mounting holes in ears are elliptic enough to allow tolerance of a few millimetres.

it's a pity, in italy mikrotik products are much sought after at this time but you can't find anything. despite everything you can find all ubiquity products. I don't want to argue but I need a rb5009 and I'm forced to wait until mid-November or buy another brand.

None of alternatives mentioned are half-width half-height ugly looking beasts offering 2.5Gbps copper port out-of-the-box. Perhaps rack-mounted RB4011 comes close ...

A much better switch, more flexibility and since all ports are on the same switch, one could use it as router AND as a one port SFP+ switch. An easy way to put one file server on a small network.
