HotSpot with MAC Authentication and Web-Proxy

Sun Sep 16, 2007 11:18 am

Hello everybody,
Before anything, it wanted to be thankful to Mikortiks people by the MUM organized in Argentina!!!
Well in the MUM, Alessio talked about HOTSPOT, and we asked if it posible to connect to it with a router and he told that is possible and we had to insert the MAC Address insted of user name in HotSpot User. I tried it and work perfectly. But I've a little problem, there are many clients connecting in this way. The problem appear when I go to Active User and I only see MAC address. If I want to look how is working the network, or if some client have problems, it's impossible!!. Recognize clients by the MAC will make me crasy!!!. It's possible to insert a comment or something in Active User, or in User (all about HOTSPOT) , where can I recognize the users by their name, it'll make it easy and quickly!!!
Another question is about Web-Proxy. If I want to use it, the RouterOS have to redirect all navigation in port 80 to the port of the Web-Poxy. Where it have to be? I think That I've to insert it in Chain "hs-auth", to prevent that unauthorized user to navegate in the WEB, that is true? And I've to make the same with test user?
I want to clatify that I'm using RouterOS version 3.0rc3.
That´s all and sorry with my poor english.
Thank you very much

1) Active list is created dynamically, you cannot add any comment there.
Probably, you can add comment at 'ip hotspot user' to each user and then use 'Find' command available at Winbox to search for the user.
2) Place rule to dst-nat chain list at the top.
