HotSpot problems

Thu Sep 27, 2007 12:30 am

Hi fellers,

I'm having some issues with HotSpot using 2.9.46 version.

1) First o all, it seems that sometimes HotSpot service crash, because nobody can log (the login page does not appear), and although I put the client in IP Bindings, the client can't navigate. I have to reboot when this happend.

2) Second, I have recive recently the following log message:
"login failed: no chap for for http-chap login method"

Any help with this?

Regards.

ok, here's some things to test.

firstly are you using an ssl cert and are you using a static dns entry?
if so, try removing the "dns name" under server profiles and get a user to re-attempt login.

If still no luck, make sure your ssl is set to "cert1" or whatever certificate you have installed.

Hi omega, thanks for the reply.

I'm not using SSL, just use HTTP-CHAP, so it seems like Hot Spot service crash or something like that.

I'm think the second problem could be something strange in the navigator the client is using.

1) Sounds like your DNS is broken or your upstream provider is. The hotspot is very stable and does not crash like this.

2) Clients will see this if they leave their web browser on the login page for too long without logging in. Opening up a new browser usually fixes this.

Hi jarosoup

Yes, I'm afraid the problem is caused when DNS have a problem. Because that symptom appear when you do not configure the DNS...

I'll keep on testing,

Thanks!
