automatic login without browser

Mon Mar 07, 2005 3:51 pm

I tried automatic login with MAC address, it worked okay.

The problem is:
User need to open browser to do the automatic login.

If the user just sending or receiving email, the user cannot do that, he must open his browser to do the automatic login.

I have tried the option
login-mac-universal: yes
but it still doesn't work.

how to solve this problem? :)

quote from dsovereen:
My goal is to make it so that if someone from a known, valid MAC address hits the hotspot, their MAC address authenticates them without the need for them to open a browser and log in manually.

for the "login-mac-universal" option to work you must use the Universal Client feature. while in version 2.9 it does not require any configuration, in 2.8 you will have to actually configure this.

lastguru, thanks.

i finally do this by marking all the packet from this MAC address with hs-auth, and the user can connect to internet without login via web.
i dont know whether this methode had any other impact because i change the marking manually.

is it possible to see all the active users, and the bandwidth they are using? so we know which user consume most bandwidth.

thx.
