Where do you get your equipment in the United States? Most resellers appear to be geared for ISPs and the like, and many just have a few devices available. Even Amazon has a restricted selection of products.

This could be due to the current chip shortages, however I was interested as to how others obtain their hardware.

EVE-NG is the best you can get to learn and to experiments on MikroTik Routers. (Wifi may be the only thing missing)
It shows up as real routers in your network. You can even use VPN from this virtual routers to the outside world.

You do loose some function on the free version compare to the paid version of EVE-NG

Yes EVE-NG is very nice to work with

I allocated 8gig to my EVE-NG as I have 16gig ram on on the mobo.
I also created a second virtual hard drive of 100gig on top of the default one that is already there.
Just learning, I finally figured the function of adapters and their relationship to clouds, in other words just starting out.

Anyone able to give a quick summary of EVE-NG vs GNS3? GNS3 is what I use, but interested in alternatives.

I can not say anything about the other. Have only used EVE-NG to make labs.
Its easy to configure, upload new images. For me it does what I like to test.
Have only free version, but would like the full version (no limit in transfere speed and no limits in number of nodes).
You can connect devices to your lan, so they acts as a real devices on your network.

Hi aesemith, I started with GNS3 and managed to make a simple network but then switched to EVE-NG. Both are good, but it seems adding network stuff in eve-ng seems easier.
