Thanks Sergejs
Watching the LTE18 video, I could not help but think that such a handsome movie star may be the next PM of Latvia......... you know just in case......
He's got that casual t-shirt action going on!!

I am not familiar with LTE, and the concept of carrier integration.
Do you mean One provider but using multiple frequences/bands from same provider or do you mean using multiple providers?
In other words how is 1gig achieved???

Finally, most excellent to learn about your IT support for Ukraine. BZ!

So the newsletter was already written a few days ago, so you had to rush the 7.2, right?

Default IP change for LTE CPE’s
Please note that since RouterOS release 7.1.4, we have changed the default IP on non-wireless CPE boards with LTE support.
Sorry I cannot find this anywhere in the 7.1.4 changelog?
edit: found in 7.2 changelog

Will my distributors see any of this kit or is this just a soft launch ?
Because all of the new kit you've launched the last 1 or so years has effectively been as good as vaporware in my parts.

Love the CCR2004-16G-2S+PC!

However, what I really need would probably be a CCR2004-16P-2S+PC
Essentially a Mikrotik version of the Cisco Catalyst 3560CX-12PD-S (12 GigE PoE, 2 GigE and 2 SFP+) or even 3560CX-8XPD-S (6 PoE, 2 mGig (10GbE), 2 SFP+). Powerful but still passively cooled.

I reply like the CCR2004-16G-2S+PC
However the base clock is slower @1.2Ghz compared to the 1.7Ghz of the actively cooled model
Can one manually set the clock speed to 1.7Ghz in routerboard settings on the PC version ?

The wall-mount suggestion is hilarious as well.
It's quite simple, really. I had one CSS326 mounted just almost that way. The only difference was that is was sideways, with the network cables going "left", instead of "up". But exactly the same thing. That hole positioning, on the mounting ears, was pure genius from Mikrotik.

We need a modern device to run Dude on it and CCR2004-16G-2S+PC is a good candidate for this.

Is there a way to expand its storage like on RB1100AHx4 Dude Edition?

How about a 100G switch with a few more ports?
This is the perfect switch for a spine and leaf topology ip fabric.
But it needs more ports on the spine layer!

It would have been nice to have a new SXT over the same recycled enclosure LHG with updated modem (not to mention the weird quote about worrying about overheating).

These releases are pretty much paper launches anyway and one can not buy none of the new stuff.
But that v7 thingie is the major issue.

The new logo, youtube channel, and better community outreach is good. Being in the forums is a good thing.

I would also like to see maybe one resource (a person) who's focus is exploring common use cases with MikroTik products. They will write verbose documentation and maybe videos on these subjects. Pick the top 20, and spend a year making really good artwork, documentation, and videos. This will cause your brand and brand experience to explode. Own education and knowledge in the top twenty areas and grow your brand organically. Although there are some passionate helpers, we are actually fragmenting the knowledge.

Some examples that need to be explored:

  1. QoS
  2. VLAN
  3. DUAL WAN Failover
  4. VPN (WireGuard) Site-to-Site
  5. VPN remote site
  6. Firewalling
  7. WiFi power and frequency tuning and why
  8. Switch Security (snooping, mac exhaustion, etc)

Thank you for your consideration.

Warning: mild rant about a confusing product name
NEWSLETTER APRIL 2022 (#105)

Read our latest newsletter and learn more about:
* LHG LTE18 kit
Argh. This is confusing. That both "LHG LTE18" and "LHGG LTE18" are used for this model. The product naming without double-G is IMO incorrect. Indicating the model only has a 10/100 Mbit port.

According to the product naming standard. It should be double-G to indicate the device has a 1 Gigabit port (same as LHGG LTE6).

https://mikrotik.com/products/compare/R ... GM_EG18-EA
https://mikrotik.com/product/lhg_lte18
https://mikrotik.com/product/lhgg_lte6_kit

The product video for the product does name it as LHGG LTE18.

https://youtu.be/Cv9yyW2IqRs

In the end. I am confused why the product listing became incorrect. But the product code is still correct. LHGGM&EG18-EA.

Image

Feeling sad. 😿 Ended up purchasing a now discontinued product (LHGG LTE6) instead of the newer LHG LTE18 model this past fall.

Nothing confusing here

LHG is the model name, all LHG models are LHG since this name means "Light Head Grid"

LHGG is part of the ORDER code. Maybe next one will be LHGD, or LHDA, does not matter, it's only used for ordering
