100G QSFP28 to 40G(?)QSFP+

Wed Jun 22, 2022 10:49 am

Hi,

we just bought a CRS504-4XQ-IN which has 4 100G QSFP28 ports and two CRS354-48G-4S+2Q-RM which have 40G QSFP+ Ports.

What are the options on connecting the 100G QSFP28 to the 40G QSFP+. Is there a 100G QSFP28 to 2x40G QSFP+? Or 100G QSGP28 to 4x25G QSFP+? And can the CRS354 handle 25G QSFP+?

Thanks
Daniel

according to sfp compatiblity matrix
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/MikroTik ... y#40G_QSFP+

you can use following cables:
Q+DA0001
XQ+DA0001
XQ+DA0003

Ok thanks for that info. I already found the compatibility matrix, however I am unsure how to interpret it.

The XQ+BC0003-XS+ (100G QSFP28 to 4x25G SFP28) would work with the CRS504-4XQ-IN.

However would it also work with the CRS354? I did not find it in the compatibility list there.

Thanks
Daniel

EDIT: Please desregard the above, I found it, according to the compatibility Matrix it should work.

Actually, somewhat. The Q+BC0003-S+ will use the 4 SFP+ ports on the CRS354.

If you want to use the 2 QSFP ports on the CRS354, you'll want to use the Q+DA0001 or Q+85MP01D.

Either way, you'll be limited to 40G per XQ-Port on the CRS504-4XQ.
