Hello everyone. I'm thinking in use that function, but i need to know if there is any possibility or reason can make my DNS name change without my conssentiment, or if it stay fixed as long as i'm using it.
Thank you!
Thanks! Did you asumed that or do you have any official doc with this information? I could't find anythingThe IP Cloud domain name is FIXED, you cannot change it. So yes its stable!
RouterSerial#.sn.mynetname.net
Certainly, that's the first thing i don, but i need to be sure about it. I admit i did not pay attention at this part about "assigned to the device" but even this way, was not clear for me if the addres will not change even after a reboot. It was hard to find!!!
Lets see.......
(a) I went to google and typed in IP Cloud Mikrotik
(b) The first entry that comes up...............
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Cloud
(c) I see a ddns example near the top with the format prescribed......
(d) Below that there is a note.................... name stored permanently............ is your first clue!
(e) Going down to properties I see the entry: dns-name (read-only: name)
Hmmm another clue, one cannot change the name.
(f) Then in the text for dns name: Shows DNS name assigned to the rdevice. Name consists of 12 character serial number appended by .sn.mynetname.net. This field is visible only after at least one ddns-request is successfully completed.
and yes, MT devices normally have a 12 character serial number.
Just to make sure I checked one of my devices and strangely enough, the serial number of the router was the first part of my IP cloud name..............
why not directlyHere, @anav, let me guide you to the MikroTik product selector.
