PPPoE Server - Not Responding

Wed Nov 28, 2007 11:17 pm

Having an issue on a new RouterOS deployment. Router has been up approx 1 month, working flawlessly (as always with this software!!), but suddenly would not accept PPPoE connection requests. No critical errors, or any other tell-tale signs could be found. Rebooted server-Everything began working properly again. Server then failed 20 minutes later. More digging, no answer, another reboot: Has been up for a few hours now.

Searched forums for answer, see alot of PPPoE issues having to do with load (hundreds of clients), however this unit is new and only has 2 clients on it so far.

Would like to get to the bottom of this before it happens again. Also, if it does happen again, I'll be able to generate a supout.rif and get more details. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this before?

I'm not sure if I can help you at all, but I can throw in a few ideas. I saw your post was unanswered.

Could it be a temperature issue - is something overheating?

Is this on a Routerboard, or is it PC based?

If you are using a flashdrive, is this getting corrupted at all? (when you reboot a Routerboard, it does an integrity check of the flash drive - watch this when it reboots).
