Hello,

I'm experiencing strange behaviour from my router. The internet speed over wifi is poor, I've tested with cable - no problem. Ping over wifi to the router (192.168.88.1) sometimes is above 1000ms I've tried to ping it locally and it's <1ms response every ping. The router is 5 meters from me between a wall. How should normal ping over wifi take, I think <10ms?

I've changed the wifi frequency at 10 different settings - same. I've tried to change the channel width - same. I've changed the band, B, B/G, B/G/N, only N - same.

I've ran out of ideas, tried everything I can think of to fix this slow wifi connection. Below are logs and settings from my router.

Can you give me some suggestions what to try next? Thanks

Things you could try.

1- Revert to a 20MHz wide channel. In situations where you have many networks close to you, it'll cause more problems than it will solve. (You've tried that, I know. But leave it there though)
2- Use the "Scan", "Snooper" and "Frequency Usage" tools found in the wireless interface window. You'll see if you have many competing wifi networks close to you. You'll also see about floor noise. If you have high background noise, maybe you have a non-wifi device (Baby monitor, security cam, cordless phone, bluetooth devices, Microwave oven) nearby causing you problems.
3- If you deploied many APs, try lowering power. We always think that by boosting the power output we'll solve problems, but it will cause more. And stick with the 1-6-11 channels pattern. No need to cause your own problems
4- Try using an app like "WiFi Analyzer" on your phone to view the other WiFi networks close to you. It'll give you the same info as in suggestion 2, but I like its interface. Netspot (https://www.netspotapp.com/) for Mac and Windows is also a cool app that'll give you tons of information about the air around you. Even the free version is good!

Also, have you tried with other devices? Maybe it's your computer's drivers??

I have a very simillar problem, so I'm trying to follow up on this topic. I have 2 APs - cAP and cAP lite both serverd the same configuration from the CAPSMAN router (RB3011). One operates on channel 3, the other one on channel 9. There is very little interference from other WiFis, which I verified using WiFi analyzer. No other wireless devices or microwaves are nearby.

The RB3011 CAPSMAN is running on 6.49.6. Both APs are on 6.48.6. I was following this guide: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:S ... sMAN_setup . The only exception is that I have set up two SSIDs to be broadcasted. The behaviour is consistent between different connected clients with different OS/drivers. The behaviour is irregular but recurring. It's worse on the cAP (even more than once an hour) then on cAP lite (around once a day).

What could I try to fix it? I heard about some alternative WiFi drivers for cAPs.

Hello, I have similar problem. I'm using loadbalancer Dhcp device (192.168.2.1) and my CAP AX is only 5 meter away from my laptop. Laptop driver and other setting is good because i test it with different accespoint. I will post my cofig and cmd screen. any idea ?

Hi,

Tried with Channel Width 20/40 on 5G wifi-int and the behaviour is the same.

However I manage to re-produce the issue.
When I do a speedtest from my PC (speedtest.net or fast.com) at some point I have a packets loss. Can it be related to the bandwidth usage/large number of packages/Queues/... something ?
Is there some config tweaks in this case?

cAP should not be the device that can "hardly" handle 1 wifi user...
