Hotspot effects LAN network badly

Mon Feb 20, 2023 2:53 pm

Hello

I have a LAN network with local servers and around 70 PCs on my network and some network printers,
I recently configured a hotspot for this lan, after that clients get problems to using servers and printers (those have static IPs),
suddenly some computers lost connection and ping to my local servers and printers, but some others not,
when i change ip (static/dynmic) problem fixed but after a period of time it occures again,
when i disable hotspot everything get back very fine.
also i put local servers and printers out of range dhcp pool and also put there IPs in walled garden ip,
but the problem return back!!

why hotspot effects LAN network badly, and how?

I am using hotspot for wifi network for along time in several places, there is no problem at all,
but in LAN network there is a problem of disconnection.

appreciate your assistance.

thanks.

I kinda confuse why would you just add the hotspot into existing LAN network. Is hotspot user all trusted user/device or you need to limit them with hotspot login?
If they all trusted device, why not just use pure wifi without hotspot service?
If the hotspot user not all be trusted device, why not put them in another network using vlan bridge filtering.
But if you insist to use hotspot into that existing network, try cek all 70 PCs and give them all hotspot binding=bypassed

thank you for quick reply,

i need hotspot to limit some lan devices from access the internet and some another to control their bandwidth easily through hotspot meanwhile give them full access to local servers and printers with walled garden ip. that's the idea.

i have another separated wifi hotspot for mobile and wireless devices, but i'm taking here about lan devices with wired connections with local servers.

i found someone talk about make /ip hotspot set 0 address-pool=none, he said to break the confusion between dhcp server address pool and hotspot address pool, i guess hotspot refer to the same dhcp pool, but the question why they (dhcp and hotspot) are trying to give the client address at the same time,

also in hotspot there is addresses per mac = 2 why?
i made it = 1, is there is any problem with that?

any help, appreciated...

Maybe better if you post your export file here without any public Ips or any credential.

For me its better you use just DHCP without hotspot service.
For limit bandwith can be done with Queue.
For limit internet access can make address-list then filtering it through firewall action drop.
I dont know if the local server just in the same network or not. So better export your configuration, so others can try see it for you.
