reconnect insanity

Sat Jan 05, 2008 11:01 pm

RB133, 1xSR9, 1xXR2, 24V/1A PoE. SR9 in STA WDS bridged with the XR2. XR2 has one WDS peer and and 3 regular clients. RSTP is enabled. WDS peer has the same basic situation except no SR9 feeding it, just repeating off its 2.4 radio. One SSID is identical between the radios, the other SSID is different (basically to allow roaming but to be able to easily control which AP our fixed STAs connect to)

Started seeing it with 2.9.46, went to .50 and had the same. Dropped back to .48, more of the same.

We regularly see events like this...

which, oddly enough, all the clients stay connected (I haven't tested client performance during the event) but the WDS dies until I manually take the radio down and put it back up, completely opposite to what winbox shows.

It will happen completely erratically. Sometimes its once every 5 minutes, sometimes it can go more than a day without failure.

Heres the site running normally. When its not freaking out, it actually performs quite well...

I dunno, I'm starting to lose patience with it. Any ideas?

Figured it out... apparently the RB133, cat5, PSU or something is coming up short for power. Reducing the maximum txpower of the XR2 to "14" (from default) appears to have fixed the problem for now.
