Australia - Release of 5.47 to 5.725GHz spectrum

The ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority) has recently expanded the Low Interference Potential Devices class licence to allow the use of the spectrum between 5470 and 5725 MHz for outdoor use in Australia. There are 5 limitations to be aware of:

1. Maximum EIRP is 1 watt averaged over the transmission burst. This means for a TDD radio with a 50% on/off duty cycle that EIRP can be set to 2 watts.
2. Power density is limited to 50 mW per MHz. This means that if the radio bandwidth is not at least 20 MHz maximum eirp must be reduced accordingly.
3. Radios must use Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) to choose a clear channel.
4. We are not permitted to transmit between 5600 and 5650 MHz. This means that any equipment using DFS must be capable of locking out those channels or is not compliant with the requirements of the class licence.
5. The radios must have Automatic Transmit Power Control to reduce transmit power to that needed. If ATPC is not available the EIRP is limited to 0.5 watts.

Thats good news!

Does router os have that auto power thing?

Thanks :)

if you enter your antenna gain, it will lower the power accordingly (we support TPC, not ATPC but it is almost the same thing, and it does comply with regulations)

Are there plans to comply with the FCC regulations regarding this same spectrum for the US? 5.2GHz and the 5.4-5.7GHz bands will require DFS and TPC (I think it needs to be ATPC)? Curious if Mikrotik is looking into this?

TPC is enough to comply with all the regulations in the US as well. We will look into updating our frequency lists, we'll see if it's possible.

Could you please also add the 5.7-5.8GHz channels allowed here in Norway?

What are the current regs in Norway for the 5.8GHz band?

BTW is it possible to add the possibility to use turbo-mode in italy without the need of a superchannel license?.
Afaik the use of turbo mode is legal, as other producer (like Araya) do sell and use such product..
If you need i can also check the documentation and ask the telecomunication ministry , and i have to contact them for other certifications..
Thanks,
Ricky

Hello

How do we set these new channels in RouterOS?

Thanks
