RB500r5 NAND chip exchange?

Mon Oct 19, 2015 3:33 pm

Hello!

My 2.9.x MT (here on RB500r5) reports failures of 2 NAND flash blocks.
Lets suppose I'm able to desolder faulty chip and put there any other one taken out of cheapo MP3 player.
Here we've got HY27UF081G2M. Could this one be easliy replaced by any other NAND chip of at least this capacity? My poor knowledge on embeds let's me suspect troubles with bootloader not knowing how to initiate unknown NAND model... Am I right?
What could I put there? Are any troubles in front of me?

any special steps after resoldering? any unique spells when partitioning under linux?
how to make correct instalation on freshly soldered chip? any tutorial, or have to work this out by my own?
never done that before :-p with mikrotik
really.

thanks

Suggestion just netinstall the router, it will reformat the nand remapping / fixing the problems.
