Hello colleagues.
Briefly the issue. I’m bought phone Xiaomi Redmi note 2 prime. And at all available to me Mikrotik devices phone can’t be connect faster than 54Mbps to TX data
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lbqo7asxu6rix ... 4.png?dl=0
Tested on RB 951G-2Hud, hap lite old and new one version (RB941-2nD и RB941-2nD-TS) is the same behavior.
Your colleagues from support who been on the MUM in Ukraine 8 Dec 2015 have not been able to resolve the issue but recognized problem. They said contact on the support.
The problem is also present in other owners of phones of this brand, as can be seen from the frequent posts 4pda and other sites, for example
http://en.miui.com/thread-35456-1-1.html
When testing with other routers ASUS (DD-WRT) and the tp-link (default FW) allowed in both directions for 40 megabits and 65 respectively. Tested downloading and uploading to an ftp server in a local Gigabit network.
As tested on Zyxel Keenetik (diff verions)also no problem.
Changing the parameters of the wireless router to give nothing except further deterioration rate.
I hope for early resolution my problems.

Lenovo P2 phone low Wifi TX rate

Good afternoon!
Sorry for my english.
For a long time I use MikroTik RB2011UiAS-2HnD, RB951Ui-2HnD, RB751G-2HnD and RB941-2nD. ROS v6.38.5 and v6.39rc72.
Recently purchased a phone Lenovo P2.
I can not understand why Lenovo P2 connects to WiFi at channel speed Tx Rate: 54Mbps, Rx Rate: 150Mbps-40MHz/1S/SGI? That is, the Tx Rate is only 802.11g, and the Rx Rate is 802.11n
Accordingly, the reception speed does not exceed 20 Mbit.
I tried every possible WiFi settings - from reset, to experiments with different parameters in the advanced mode. I tried to play with channels, and with the width of channels, and with the power of the transmitter, etc. Still, more than 54Mbps at the reception there.
And the same phone Lenovo P2 with routers D-Link, TP-Link, Asus, etc. Works fine, at a speed of ~ 60-70 Mbit in both directions.
What could be the reason? Is this some known problem? And will it be eliminated?

I have a similiar problem, but with Letv x500 smartphone and two tablets Asus ME400C and Chuwi Hi8. Tx Rate only 54Mbps, Rx Rate - 75Mbps-20MHz. Also tried different wifi settings, different router locations, no result(( Technical support couldn't help me to fix this problem.

The same here: hAP lite (RB941-2nD), latest firmware and RouterOS, 802.11n, Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro. Other devices (iPad 2, iPhone, some notebooks) get expected rates (up to 60Mbps downlink). Only Redmi 4 is stuck at 801.11g rates, never getting speeds over 20Mbps when working with Mikrotik.
Had anyone some success contacting Mikrotik on the issue? What can we do to resolve this incompatibility?

I have the same problem. I have done several tests with different smartphones in map lite, wap and groove. I have tried changing the settings several times but I get the same results.
My smartphone shows only 54 mb in reception and however shows 72 mb in transmission.

Hello, there is always the same (well known) bug with TX Rate on all smartphones with android. TX Rate is always only 54Mbps but RX Rate is 72.2Mbps-20MHz/1S/SGI.
I have the solution on
Linux machines (Linux Mint and Ubuntu) but not for unrooted phones.
For some wireless chipsets a simple tweak is sufficient for increasing the connection quality a lot.
Namely disabling the power management for the wireless chipset.
The speed of your wireless internet may then increase also.
Now, You can do that as follows:
Launch a terminal window.
Type in the terminal (or copy/paste):
sudo apt-get install gksu leafpad
gksudo leafpad /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
Now a text file opens. In that text file, you see the following content:
[connection]
wifi.powersave = 3
Change 3 into 2.
Save the modified file and close it.
Reboot your computer.
Please try it and give me feedback

Yes, some low end chinese phones have such issues. I suggest for now to use better phones, since we can't solve this issue quickly. These phones are known to have issues. We have checked this issue, and there is incompatibility with these chips and the RouterOS driver. We can't easily solve it, it will take a lot of time.
i'm not sure about Moto Play, we have only tested this issue with Xiaomi and other chinese brands.

Hi Normis,
Does this means that Xiaomi and other brands are not conforming with 802.11 wireless standards ? RedMi3 are using Broadcom BCM43341, I suppose that there will be a lot of devices (not only low end) which uses Broadcom WiFi chips.
Can you please provide information which WiFi chipsets are not compatible with RouterOS, a lot of WISPs/Hotspot owners will/might have complains from customers ?

Currently we have seen this issue only with this specific broadcom chip, not all of them.
The wireless standards have all kinds of extensions and methods, it seems that our drivers do not work correctly with the way this chip wants to do rate selection. We need to invest a lot of time to resolve this, it is hard to say when it will happen.

Let me ask: samsung s7 have cheap Chinese chip like other phones in topic, because with RB951G-2HnD don't use 40 MHz?
Dear developers, maybe problem more importantly then you think?
It all about 40 MHz, let force your routers and our phones to use this frequency, and all users will be happy.

i think issue is related to android phones in general like normis says using some specific wifi chipset
i have seen many of them in registration tables only with 802.11g tx datarates, various brands and models, motorola, samsung, huawei, LG
But not all android devices suffer the issue
its sad to hear from mikrotik this is a low priority issue
specially after investing years to make people to believe in mikrotik as a reliable choice for wifi deployments
if wifi is a low priority for mikrotik will be best to retire all your wifi line of products, we all migrate to alternatives like ubiquiti unifi (finally is stable) please dont take the effort to release more wifi devices until you resolve this issues
seriously i dont understand mikrotik strategies, 10 years later finally decide to make affordable and competitive cpe for wisp just when all the roofs of many countries are populated with ubnt and tplink wisp cpe's
2 years after the market they release dualband wifi ap overpriced and overheating
will be better if mikrotik concentrate only on routing but i remember only one core bgp implementation and routeros 7 and
seriously as a customer i don't understand and that obliges me to search alternatives, as an act of responsibility towards my clients

I have a coupe of MKT devices (SOHO usage, HAP AC,AC Lite , 951G,part of the list is in my signature) but because of all those WiFI issues I start looking for alternatives. So far, it was good decision, I 'm currently using Mikrotik for routing and another vendors for WiFi.
The problem is that in my case single vendor (MT) would be best, but I really need reliable WiFi.
If band steering, air fairness, device compatibility and radio quality (not to mention NV2 and AC scanning complains from the professional users) are not priority for MT, what can we do ?

Well, you answered your question yourself. Use Mikrotik for routing purposes, and use other brands for WiFi. Unifi, Cisco, Aruba (ok, that is a bit too far fetched with Aruba)....
You are right, it would be `easier` with one vendor, but as you know, it is not a real big problem, since there are no `benefits` for one vendor here. You as a professional should not have a problem with two different types of equipment (for example Unifi and Mikrotik).

Normis, any update to this? When we can expect to be fixed?
It is a shame that vendor's (MikroTik) advice is to use higher-class phones. Why are you making devices (like hAP ac Lite = epic fail - ac on wireless, but only 100M ethernet) for SOHO users if you are not able to fix the issues promptly? Maybe it would be better to be focused more on another market (WISPs) and forget SOHO devices if you are not able to fix the issues promptly.
I am using HTC One M9 (definitely not a cheap smartphone) and have the same issue as many people above mentioned... and considering to give anyone I know the same level of advice as we got from MikroTik: "use higher-class vendor and forget about MikroTik"

I found a way out and advise everyone - vote with money. With this attitude to the problem, you should not wait in the future for confidence in the vendor.

Have You tried 6.41?
Tested with a Moto Z2 Play (5 GHz 802.11n, 40MHz) and an Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom (2,4GHz 802.11n, 20MHz). I saw people complaining about both of them here - but they are working fine with my APs. Maybe version 6.41 fixed this?

Everybody tells that some devices connected to Wi-Fi 2.4GHz have low speed on download and TX rate on Mikrotik shows only 54Mbps. In the same time RX rate is ok (65-300Mbps depend on client device).
I wrote to Mikrotik support and received a reply:
currently we don't have clear solution and road map for this fix.
We can suggest to use 20/40mhz-Ce channel width or even use 20MHz channels.
In eC mode extension comes before control, that may disturb correct work on some wireless devices.
Of course suggestion is about nothing.

I tried to make a list of devices there was a problem:
Asus Zenfone 3
Chuwi Hi8
Google Nexus 4
Google Nexus 5
HTC One M9
Huawei P9 lite
Lenovo P2
Lenovo TAB 2 X30L
Letv x500
Moto Z2 Play
OnePlusX
Redmi Note 3
Redmi Note 4G
Redmi Note 5
Samsung Galaxy XCOVER 4
Samsung S7
Sony Xpera Z Ultra
Xiaomi Redmi note 2 prime.
tablet LENOVO YOGA 2
tablets Asus ME400C
Don't think that phones like Samsung S7, Google Nexus 5, HTC One M9 or Sony Xpera Z Ultra are "some low end Chinese phones"
The problem present at almost all routers with only 2.4GHz module. Mikrotik support confirmed this and told that there aren't problems on routers with 5GHz AC Wi-Fi module. However i tried with hAP AC lite and there is the same problem.
Not a long time ago becomes a new model Wi-Fi AP: "cAP AC". I hasten to inform that Wi-Fi works fine.
Dear Mikrotik experts, on behalf of all Mikrotik fans, please take care of solving the problem.
With best regards.

I vote that we make new forum topic with alert to all new buyers informing them that mikrotik does not work correctly in 2.4ghz spectrum.
And with regular bumping we should keep it on top of forum.

I fully support this idea
MikroTik has to wake up and stop ignoring customer complains and blaming us for "buying lowend chinese phones" and releasing very poorly tested new devices (or better, non-tested at all... see issues with new AC devices based on ARM)
For this issue, 3 years are definitely enough time to fix it.

This issue is related to the chipset incompatibility between what we use in our devices, and the chip in these phones. There isn't much we can do.
Newer devices, such as hAPac^2 and cAPac do not have this issue anymore.

In previous your posts, you suggested to buy better phones, now when many users report about this issue not only on cheap phones, you suggest to buy your new devices. Nice work, Mikrotik.
Now, when i've bought your "old" device, i must to sell it and buy a new model, but where is the guarantee that on new model, such as hAPac^2, i will not have the same issue?

None of that is contradictory. I said that the hardware in these mostly cheap phones is incompatible (in some ways) with the chips used in MikroTik devices.
This means there are two solutions: change phone or change chips in MikroTik devices. Either solution works fine.

This means there are two solutions: change phone or change chips in MikroTik devices. Either solution works fine.
Do you suggest choosing a phone specifically for the router? Because not all phones work well with your devices. Are you seriously???

This issue is related to the chipset incompatibility between what we use in our devices, and the chip in these phones.
If that's true chipset incompatibility, why the physically same MikroTik device with LEDE firmware installed works fine?

He said "Either solution works fine", so you can choose a different phone if you must keep using the RB951, or choose a different AP if you must use a specific incompatible phone.

It sounds strange and absurd, choose a phone for the router, or i something don't understand???

The problem is on the hardware level. To solve it you need to physically desoldering the chipset and replace it with others.
Why do you think the problem is in hardware? I have info from support - it is software problem.
Hello,
we will work on this problem but first we need to finetune the new wireless driver for the new hardware
and then we would try to implement the fix for the old wireless hardware.
Best regards,
Uldis C.

Yes, it is software problem. Because with LEDE works Mikrotik hardware better then original software (ROS)

Uldis/Normis: When you do your development and testing on Wifi modes do you validate the signal with a suitable Rhode&Schwartz/Agilent/Anritsu/Keysight/etc spectrum analyser and 802.11 protocol tester at all? It would seem to me such a device would reveal your problem very quickly! It seems to me like you're guessing!

I have read through the topic and is clear to me that Mikrotik via Normis as representative, is either lying or the Mikrotik developers really have no much idea about wifi, although they are supposedly writing code for wifi devices. Both possibilities are really sad and show that anyone who takes wifi seriously should not invest much in Mikrotik Access Points.
Reportedly, LEDE works just fine in the very same devices for which MkTik initially responded that they need too much work to fix and later changed to that they are fundamentally incompatible and thus cannot be fixed. My guess? Of course the problem is not in the chip and can be fixed, but the Mikrotik Atheros driver is a highly proprietary patchwork, too alienated from the upstream code to backport any fix, especially since the current Mikrotik devs are clearly not very competent in low-level wifi coding: everything that requires hacking deeply into the hardware are off-limits for them, like NV2 for example.
In this respect, it looks like the initial reply by Normis was the more sincere one, while the second was just a clumpsy cover-up of MkTik's severely limited coding ability for anything wifi-related.

Any news on a software fix?
Does the new hAP ac² suffers from the same issue?

I also have big problem with now one phone on my network, it's Xiaomi Redmi 3. User told me thet biggest problem is form a week (probably last update for the router and CAPs). I see that RX connect is only 1-13,5Mbps, TX connect in the same time is to 150Mbps. I mustrun one AP on OpenWrt/LEDE to give use possible to use internet. In this case is biggest problem only for download speed because speed connect to APs is mostly 1Mbps.

He get TX rate mosty 1Mbps and of course can't use internet connection.

This issue is related to the chipset incompatibility between what we use in our devices, and the chip in these phones. There isn't much we can do.
Newer devices, such as hAPac^2 and cAPac do not have this issue anymore.
Apparently, there is a serious flaw in your hardware design process. Here is the screenshot of my wap AC connected devices which shows quite a few devices none of which is low-end Chinese phone, as it was said previously. Especially interesting is the Tx rage of iPhone 6s which is even lower than that of Moto G2.

I am also having this exactly same problem.
My Mikrotik device is a RBCAPL-2ND (CAP Lite). The phone is a Moto G5 plus, which has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, probably the same processor as the Xiaomi's phones.
Interestingly, my Moto G5 plus initially is shown on the registration page with the Tx Rate set to 14mbps-20MHz/1s/SGI. But after a few seconds the Tx Rate changes to 54Mbps. When my phone is connected to the Mikrotik CAP Lite, the download bandwidth measured using IPERF3 is ~20 Mbps and the upload bandwidth is ~50 Mbps.
Another problem with this CAP Lite device is that the channels 7 and 8 cannot be used properly because they provide a max bandwidth of about 3 Mbps.
My Google Chromecast and my Lenovo ThinkPad T430 have no problem to connect to this CAP Lite at 802.11n speeds (72 Mbps and 144 Mbps respectively).
The same phone connects successfully at 802.11n speeds (2.4 GHz) to the following wireless devices:
TP-LINK TL-WR842ND.v2 running LEDE firmware 17.01.4 - Tx 72Mbps - Rx: 72Mbps - actual bandwidth measured using IPERF3: ~51 Mbps.
TP-LINK EAP115.v1 running firmware version EAP115(US)_V1_170106: Tx: 72Mbps - Rx: 72Mbps - actual bandwidth measured using IPERF3: ~52 Mbps.
TP-LINK Archer C20.v4 running firmware version Archer C20(BR)_V4_170309: Tx: 72Mbps - Rx: 72Mbps - actual bandwidth measured using IPERF3: ~50 Mbps.
So until this driver problem is fixed, this device is useless to me.

Are data rates reaching maximal supported by devices?
About Lenovo P2 - no questions.
But I'm not sure that Xiaomi Mi Max 2, with the manufacturer's support for MU-MIMO gives out a maximum. If I'm wrong, correct it.

Not only BCM and Xiaomi.
Lenovo K5 (Qualcomm Snapdragon) now get Tx Rate 72.2Mbps-20MHz/1S/SGI (max supported by device) with RB951Ui. With all previous ROS versions Tx Rate was 54Mbps (i.e. only 802.11g).

This device is factory locked to 20MHz channels, to get more throughput you have to unlock 40MHz channel support

I am pretty interested to know what the fix was. Any chance of a technical summary about what had to get changed?
Also, given 6.43 stable is still some months away can you please backport this fix to 6.42.1?

The bonus with 6.42.1 is that it has the BCM Wifi fix in it. Already I am seeing all my Android devices and laptops with BCM chips now connecting faster than 54Mbit! Wooohooo! File transfers over SMB/CIFS to the laptops improved 50% too (on a 20MHz channel).

I just upgraded my CAP Lite (RouterBOARD cAP L-2nD) to RouterOS v6.42.1 (stable) and I can confirm that my Moto G5 Plus now can connect to this router using the 802.11n speeds, instead of 802.11g. The registration now shows 72.2Mbps-20MHz/1S/SGI on both TX and RX.
The bandwidth measured using IPERF3 tool shows ~50 Mbps on download and ~53 Mbps on upload. Those bandwidth results are on par with the TP-LINK EAP115.
Congratulations to the Mikrotik Team for this fix.
Thank you very much Mikrotik Team.

As for the phone, you were wrong, the limitation was software! With ROOT, it now supports a bandwidth of 40Mhz.
Now everything suits me!!!!!
All the best to your team!

Were testing 6.42.1
2G is terrible (10-15mb) unless you use 20/40 (60+)
This is across devices.
Terrible waste of spectrum when all you need is a stable 30m
Most of our customers have our 30 synchronous (3030 i get me hands dirty)
Huge bonus points is you can name the artist
5 or 6 all in an apartment all channel bonding saturates 2G.
Really unsustainable.

I connected to another provider. 100 MB. The download speed is still around 50Mb / sec. And the Upload speed reaches 92 MB / sec. The Mikrotik team made a bug fix, but not until the end
