I can't seem to find any information on this, but are any of the PPP USB drivers generic? I'd like to plug the router into my Globalstar modem which just uses generic hayes AT commands. On others systems, its just setup as a generic modem.

Here's the compatibility matrix: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported ... and_modems

Have you plugged it and checked System > Resources USB?

The globastar could be using a "regular" FT232RL or similar chip, see http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported ... l_adapters

Important:
Note: when USB serial port is connected RouterOS might attach serial console on the port. Before using it for something else, disable the console on the interface

I haven't tried it yet, its actually going to be an experiment on a ship for our telemetry software. its currently on one plugged directly into a dedicated computer onboard, but id like to put it on the router so that it is available to the network as the failover WAN. if all goes well, then we will use this method on all the vessels.
