PowerBox RB750P-PBr2 Unidentified Lockup

Mon Jan 04, 2016 9:45 pm

I really like the PowerBox router. On some of my small repeater sites, I've been using the PowerBox with usually good results. Of my 5 sites running the PowerBox (Currently on "Bugfix" RouterOS v6.32.3), 3 have had unidentified lockups over the past 4 months.

These routers are powering ePMP hardware with ports set to "forced-on". They are each using the supplied power supplies feeding 4-20m of Cat5e Ubiquiti ToughCable. When the router locks up, the radios are still receiving power from the PowerBox, but the router appears completely unresponsive (will not respond to L2 Winbox connections, or any L3 connections).

Restarting the router solves the problem.

Are there any documented issues with the PowerBox that I should look into?

Thank you, Chris

AFAIK ToughCables are rather crappy - this may be a reason (and I know similar situations where that cable caused such behaviors).
