Router Bricked in under 5 minutes.

Tue Mar 15, 2016 11:47 pm

Hello, I have just gotten my first mikrotik, an RB2011.

Edit for cleanup: Did some stuff, messed it up, Netinstalled it successfully, but now I cant get to the webfig page to actually set it up, wat do?

Edit2: All Fixed up thanks to Dark and SOB's simple but effective suggestions, not sure how to mark the topic resolved, if a mod happens by and could do that would be awesome, and again, Thanks Everyone.

WinBox is your friend. It doesn't require IP address and can connect directly to MAC.

THANK YOU SOB!

I already had Winbox but until you told me I had no idea about the mac address thing, I am now up and running.

Thanks again Everyone!

Netinstalling would put you into IP addressed with interface = 0.0.0.0

Download Winbox
Connect LAN wire in Eth3 port
Connect to Router using its MAC in the neighbour's tab

IP > Addresses > Assign a manual ip in the first field like 192.168.1.1/24 and select the ethernet port you are connected to currently ( For here it Eth3)

Now open you pc's network settings Give it network address > 192.168.1.2 Subnet : 255.255.255.0 Gateway : 192.168.1.1

DNS : 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Now try opening 192.168.1.1 .. It will open for sure

Cheers
