Poor PPTP performance across bonded links

Sun Sep 03, 2006 5:27 pm

I have been running a wireless bonded link for about 4 months. However, with my recent change from a PPPoE/WDS Bridged to a PPTP/Routed network the bonding link is causes major speed problems.

If I bandwidth-test through the bonded link directly (no tunnels) everything operates as it should, if I however bandwidth-test through a PPTP tunnel that is operating across the link, the speed is terrible. The link flucuates between 15-25% of the speed the link should get. If I disable one of the wireless cards the link fails over to one card without issue and the speed problem dissappears.

I have ideas at what is causing this but have not found any way to correct it. Has anyone else seen this issue and if so what can be done to correct it?

do some looking into your MTU and MRU settings, I remember there being some issues with this in the past regarding PPTP, but don't remember any specifics
