Hello,

I am unable to reset OmniTikU-5HnD but its not working. Even after pressing the reset button it is not resetting the device. I am not sure whether I have really changed the username/password or not. While pressing reset button I am switching it ON and then releasing it even then its not resetting the device to factory settings.

Please assist me.

Thanks

How much time do you keep pressing the reset button after powering it on?

Have you tried netinstalling it? http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall

What routeros version does it have installed? Did you enable protected Routerboot? or changed default System > Routerboard settings Boot Device?

Hello,

While pressing the reset button continuously I have powered ON and OFF device 3 times..even doing it for 1 time too.

Tried with neinstall too, but here it doesn't show the router in list.

I dont think I have changed any setting just opened it once after buying it.

Its Router OS 6.23

Thanks

I mean, you press the reset button, apply power, and then how much time do you keep pressing the reset button after having applied power?

To invoke a configuration reset the procedure is:

1.- Press reset
2.- Apply power
3.- Watch the power led, once it blinks, STOP pressing the reset button
4.- It will beep one time
5,. Once you hear two beeps, you should be able to access it.

Tip: do not use ether1 but a different port if you are connecting via ip, on default configuration ether1 is the wan port, and thus filtered by firewall.

I keep pressing it till the one beep comes, even tried till the 2nd beep comes and even for few times I have kept the reset button pressed till the power led blinks but it never worked. Anyways will follow the same procedure tomorrow once again for confirmation.

In the meantime can you suggest me another option in case this procedure also wont work.

You don't have to press the reset button till the first beep, but until the first blink of the power led, first beep usually happens afterwards. It's usually 5 seconds or less.

Why do you know it didn't reset? How are you trying to connect? i.e. which ether port do you plug your laptop to?

do you try to connect from winbox by IP or by mac-winbox (neighbors tab)?.

Because i am unable to login it still says wrong username or password..So its obvious that the device hasn't been reset yet.

I have tried with almost every eth port. And on winbox i have tried connecting with Mac id and IP too.

Hello,
i searched forums but havent found similiar problem so i post it here.
Omnitik UPA-5HnD doesnt have internal reset jumper it has only reset button.

We have quite an issue now, some of our omnitik's will just die after upgrading them from software which they come to our company with, its usually some 6.*+
We always try to upgrade them to 6.36 stable version. Some of those device will just die and it kinda mystery for us.

After uploading sw i reboot them and they just wont come up again they just beep once, blink ethernet ports 3&4 and over and over again.
I tried everything from reseting to defaults(which doesnt work) to trying to fix them with netinstall, but no luck.
I have more then 5 devices with this isseu on my table, any advices? can upload a video from booting process.

Thank you.

A blind shot: have you checked System > RouterBoard Current Firmware version is the same as Upgrade version? Try checking this on one,m then upgrading to latest 6.36.4.

What happens in netinstall? they don't show up? have you actually checked the reset button works (multimeter in continuity?)
