How to use two routers and make flat network?

Hi All,

I've just purchased two hAP ac routers. I have no experience with router OS.
My idea was that I will use one router as my router/firewall and the other one as a switch and WiFi access point.

The issue is - I have no clue where to start and looking for the quick fix. I will go through RoS documentation at some point, but time is not permitting me to do so at the moment.

Hi,

Need more info about your ISP connection but typically ISP modem in bridge mode is connected to ether1 of router.

For Router/Firewall:
Use Quickset --> Home AP.
Fill in the details according to your ISP.
Assign an IP.
Enable NAT & DHCP.
Disable wlan1.
Configure firewall to your needs.

For Switch/AP:
Use Quickset --> WISP AP.
Mode: Bridge
Assign IP
Configure wlan as needed

That should get you started.

Thank you. It did work, however, how do I manage my "bridged" device. It does have it an IP address as I can identify it in DHCP leases list, but I cannot connect to it. Real life example - I've made a mistake in WPA2 passkey and need to change it.

Am I expected to reset the device every time I need to reconnect to it?

So, I've found a way to connect to bridged router via "MAC Telnet". Unfortunately, it is only good if you know the specific CLI for RoS (which I do not know, yet). Isn't there a GUI option?

Didn't you assign an IP address to it? If not, use Winbox and, as jarda suggested, connect using MAC address.

I had "Address Acquisition" set to "Automatic" on my bridged router. I could see MAC, Hostname and IP of the bridged adapter in the list of the DHCP leases on 1st Router. However, I was not able to reach the router on the IP. I had this particular setting, because at previous attempt to set static IP, devices connected to the bridges router would not have Internet access.

I've just tried setting IP manually again, and it worked. Thank you very much for the help.

P.S. can I rate your posts? Since you pretty much solved my question I'd like to rate it accordingly.

Thank you, this was helpful. I did manage to connect to my bridged router with MAC address.
