Managemnet Advice

Fri Sep 15, 2006 9:50 pm

Hi,

If you running more than one mikrotik board, can you manage all bandwith rules from the mikrotik connected directly to the internet?

Ie. All managemnet will be done from main board, other boards will be used just to direct trafic to the main board?

Also, im using clarkconnect as a gateway/mail server. If my internet connection is only 1meg, i must set this for queue rules, but i would like mail and proxy trafic to come through at full network speed, not the internet line speed? Or should i setup the clarkconnect server as a server on the lan and use another lan port for the internet?

Yes you can use the gateway router as the traffic shaper & QoS.

Either solution you propose will work - you can mangle & mark http and mail traffic to be queued seperately with different limits, or you can split the gateways with routing marks.

Use whichever seems more convenient for you, I guess...
