Hardware advice for 2.4 Ghz

Thu Jun 16, 2016 4:27 pm

Hi dear All

I have some background in Mikrotik wireless devices and software. I decided to make WISP 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. In this situation I want my clients to connect to my WISP without any CPE device.
Because there are other ISPs like ADSL and other WISPs. ADSL ISPs gives a service much cheaper for customer because ADSL modems much cheaper than CPE device.
I want my customers just using their own devices like android/iOS devices, laptops and tablets for connecting to internet. This actually will be hotspot.
There are lot of houses in 1km radius. Spaces between house per house is approx 30m.
I have looked for QRT 2 which gives to 3W power and 22 deg, and basebox with 90 deg antenna for to do this. Is this devices suitable for that situation?
I need advice for 2.4Ghz. Which device(s) should I use for 360 deg at 1km radius?

This isn't a good plan because you're not going to get good signal penetration into the houses, and DEFINITELY not at 1km distances.
If you want to just blanket an area with 2.4/5.8 signal, you're going to more than lose your CPE savings by having to install APs literally EVERYWHERE.
Not only that - interference is going to kill you kill you kill you. How many other houses are going to have their own 2.4/5.8Ghz installations? Some figure approaching 100% sounds reasonable to assume....

This is to say nothing of layer2 / layer3 concerns of having a giant flat network that everyone "just connects to"

Fixed wireless has the advantage that you can use directional antennas to focus the signal exactly towards your sectors and be better equipped to deal with interference, etc.
