Microtik almost killed Huawei!!

We flow a lot of traffic and lot of BGP routes, as we are peered to many CDN and providers.
Right now, the current setup is 1072 as edge.

I was thinking to change to Huawei NE20E-S2E as my Edge router, but Huawei said, its max limit is 25000 BGP routes only.

I was like, WTF!!!!

Microtik 1072 is just 3000$ and can support even 90k BGP routes or even more. (I have seen till 90k).

And you telling me , a 15000 USD router limit is 25000 BGP routes ?

I asked them to leave my office!!!

I think you misunderstood something or person who provided such info made a mistake.  As far as I know NE20E-S series routers can support up to 25000000.

The NE20E-S series can hold 12M IPv4 routes in RIB and 4M IPv4 routes in FIB.

Oh wow, may be the sales person did not know.

So, my plan is it change edge and core to Huawei or Juniper next month and only usr microtik for PPPoE routers.

What answer do you expect on Mikrotik forum ? Do you ask Toyota dealer which model of Ford or Volvo does he suggest ? :)

Why would you choose a Huawei over a MikroTik?
I have not had a Huawei in any of my networks for over 5 years. They were all removed from service after the backdoors were discovered.

What back doors were these ?

The only major security issue we are aware of on the NE platform was the accepting of labels on ports not configured for mpls, which was resolved last year.

I think it was just a rumor that was proven as false:

its more about "unfair compatition" and "state-backed lobbysm" than something security-related.
btw, because FCC, DoC and NSA regulation - its Mandatory to have one on both silicon, firmware and software levels for networking gear
(so most if not all SoC, SDK and resulting firmware - are infested with ;)
genrally its unwise to blindly trust to FUD govt or corporations(or sometimes individuals ;) tend to spread out.
there was almost 20 networking-relevant "Special Sources" programms in NA "Intelligence Community", even among actual/active and most relevant to exact topic are named "Hammermill".
in fact they(US govt)pissed off by "incompletely implemtation" of it(its legal and some features still remain "optional". and they tend to be addicted to some of, sadly) and launched relevant crippling/exploitation programm named funny "Turbopanda" ;)
other relevant portions are, used ajaced together with are "HAMMERSTEIN", "HAMMERCHANT", "TURMOIL", "TURBINE" interconnected over "ISLANDTRANSPORT" into "APEX"
they even announced external signalling to both h323("FASHIONCLEFT" ;), SIP and even to SSTP and L2TP and etc implementations by corporations ;)
classic metadata-based collection like say TURMOIL & PRESSUREWAVE will works okay to so they can kill people by drones or armed operatives on foot(no courts, no fair trials, no evidences, no even basic check/re-check sequence other countries intel employ&enforce)
airgapped solutions with things like say "СHIMNEYPOOL" and alike implants into different kind of gear from smartphones and servers to telco and even medical equiment(each had - own codename)
classic "keyword" collection by programms like "KEYCARD" stay operational aswell.

while i prefer RB devices for most uses if i "had to" go with something Chinese - i usually pick ZTE or some 2 or 3 echelon brands :)
for majority of usual reasons. Huawei despite relatively big and wealthy - not introduce almost anything to networking, just "repackage and sell" others technology, even despite they tend to promote themselves(as many of other companies) as "innovators, inventors and creators of something ingenuine", other Chinese companies - succeed in that terms Way more and had quite Interesting products sometimes(not flawless in many cases, but promising :). nobody perfect, anyway.
