DHCP Server on bridged interface

Mon Sep 05, 2016 10:40 am

I have a problem with bridge and DHCP server features. In my case, I use first and second port only then I bridge them because of a situation needed. After that, I want the second port as a DHCP server that will caught by another DHCP relay in second router . My Question is : Can I make DHCP server on the bridged interface ?

I have attach my scenario.

Kindly please help me to understand this feature. Thank you

In fact, you should set the DHCP server, and move any IPs assigned to the standalone ports to the bridge interface.

Once you create a bridge, all services (DHCP, PPPoE, etc) and IP assigments should be done on top of that bridge and not to any port belonging to it; as all added ports are now in layer 2, you can consider they to be an standalone port.

PS. Please resize the diagram, is ginormous and breaks the page format...
