x86 "No network card found"

Mon Oct 03, 2016 8:12 pm

I have a Supermicro server that I am trying to install RouterOS to. I can install to USB and successfully boot, but it cannot see the NICs, I can also get to the PXE based installer but get stuck with the message "no network card found".

What options do I have to get this working?
Using a different host is not an option (though adding hardware to this one is possible)

The hardware:

Hi

I've tried and failed on similar hardware, I did once manage to get it up and running but it then started crashing every 5 minutes and rebooting...

The easiest way to do this is to boot a Hypervisor on your physical hardware and use one of the pre-build CHR images available for download, they appear to work everytime

On such new hardware I suggest to to install hypervisor like promox, virtualbox, etc, and install RouterOS CHR for best performance, and when RouterOS v7 comes out with new kernel you can try that.
