Sun Oct 09, 2016 8:03 pm

Hello Mikrotikers.
I used to to have a PPPoE connection that used to work now i had to reset the router and create a new connection and it's not working
Below is the ip route snapshot of it.

Contact your ISP, they are probably dishing out a private IP for disconnected/cancelled radius accounts.

Thanks paulct.
I get a public IP when i use the TP-Link router provided by ISP.
When i use Mikrotik it gets private IP. Do you think ISP might be blocking private device usage ? (to promote their Sh*TTy router)
figure below shows TP-Link acquiring Public IP on WAN interface.
Also i'm bit confused why WAN IP and GATEWAY is same on TP-Link may be that might be the reason for mikrotik not working do i have to manually assign static IP on pppoe interface.

Could well be that they are mac address locking their connections. Maybe just enquire? Mikrotik pppoe is nothing special. Username, password and interface is all you need really - that should give you the IP - anything else such as add default route etc will not affect the initial connection and allocation of an IP.

Either way the issue seems to lie with your ISP - maybe a radius config, mac blocking etc...

Hi paulct
yes they do mac blocking, so i changed the mac of PPPoE interface to match with the TP-Link router provided by ISP.
i have no Idea about radius, if the problem was radius then why would TP-Link Router work ?
Thanks

Hi,
Supposing your pppoe connection is on ether1 interface, Are you sure ether1 mac address is the same with tp-link wan mac address ?
/int ethernet print
As i remember from a few tp-link routers when configuring a pppoe connection beside username/passwd, eventually service name and MTU there is nothing else special about that. Like paulct said i think as well as is a ISP catch, not your mikrotik. However have you tried to ask your ISP kindly to change in his side your new mac address of your mikrotik ?

kind regards,

Thankyou my friend
Yes I am 100% sure that MAC address is not the issue it has been perfectly cloned.
No sir, I have not tried calling the ISP.
I don't think they will allow using a router that was not provided by them and will not support incase of any problem.
so trying to figure it out without them.
oh by the way beside MAC filtering what restriction can they apply? like pauclt say some radius thing blah blah..
I just want to use the mikrotik router replacing tplink without letting them know.
Many Thanks
