Remote Provisioning

Hi Everybody
I am trying to set up a remote provisioning server and would like to pull configs through from a single location using "/tool fetch", but I need to be able to differentiate between different devices.The obvious solutions is to use the MAC address of the WAN port, but I need a way to pass that either in the URL or the user agent in the http request. Is this possible at all? My knowledge with regards to scripting is not that great at all and any help would be much appreciated.
