PPPOE and USER MANAGER

Wed Oct 18, 2006 2:42 pm

Hi!

I like to create a PPPOE server with Mikrotik on RB532. I have 20 users connected to this Mikrotik. I like accounting. I like to know when was the user connected, disconnected whats the IP...everything abaut the user. The built in User Manager can do this for me or I have to create a RADIUS server (freeradius)?
This user manager can create the log file to a target machine?

Thanks!

I think local router[PPPoE server] should provide with information about PPPoE actions.
One of the method to manage information to send 'pppoe' logs to remote server, that will able to hande logs (Syslog for Windows is available on the download page).

'/system logging add topics=pppoe, action=remote'
'/ system logging action add target=remote remote=x.x.x.x'

And where this log? Because this system on RB 532 with 32 MB ram and I dont think it's enough. So can I add different "log place"?

well there are no options right now, maybe later you will be able to send logs elsewhere. it will clear logs after some time, if you have no space left.

No, i think much better way as 'sergejs suggested' for remote logging, cause this forum talking on RB about resources. don't forget default port remote log system is 514, normally all our RBs anythink about logging, i set to remote to...
