RB952Ui-5ac2nD-US No Wlan and Uknown Atheros PCI Device

Wed Dec 21, 2016 10:01 pm

Hi All,

I just purchased THREE RB952Ui-5ac2nD-US devices, and none of them have working wireless out of the box. There are no wlan interfaces, and I get a warning in the log about not being able to find wireless interfaces. Again, this happens on ALL THREE. No problems setting up everything wired, but I need them for the wireless.

Another clue is that in System:Resources.PCI, there is an Atheros Communications "unknown device" with device ID 0x0050.

I would greatly appreciate any help before Christmas arrives! Best regards!

Manually download the latest packages for your device, dump the in the root of the file system and reboot. Next you can go to the packages and ensure that wireless is enabled.

Odd that this happened out of the box but it is very likely that the wireless packages are not installed/enabled.

I almost threw a device away overlooking this...

I also purchased the three from SIL MICRO. You should return your unit. I got a response from MikroTik support, and also looking around I find that they apparently had a bad batch of devices. I'm told that quality control will be updated and we shouldn't have this problem in the future. In the meantime, SIL MICRO has had numerous complaints about them selling defective units, and I'm a bit upset with that vendor for not pulling the rest of the affected units.

If it helps you at all, I got another device from Baltic Networks, and it works as it should. I have more of them coming in tomorrow and I'm assuming they will be fine, if not I will post back here. BTW I'm very pleased with Baltic Networks, they have good prices and when ordering three I was able to match the prices by SIL MICRO even with overnight delivery (I'm doing a mesh setup at my parents' house for a Christmas present, so I wanted them by Friday).

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, we seem to have different problems. I went through many iterations of software packages and I've become versed enough with RouterOS to be sure that it isn't something so trivial. In my case, and for a number of other people, it seems to be a problem that can't reasonably be rectified by the customer. Please see my previous post for details.
