RB450 RS232

Thu Jan 26, 2017 6:58 pm

Hi,

I'm thinking of using RB450 as a RS232 Server ( just like Moxa ) to be able to connect to the Mitsubishi FX3G PLC.
I have already read that RS232 in this Routerbard does not support hardware flow control ( RTS, CTS pins ).
What about DTR and DSR signals ?
In order to connect to FX series PLC's I just need GND, RX, TX, DTR and DSR pins.
Is it possible on RB450 ?

Of course I can but theres a lot of projects in which we do not use Ethernet module and rs232 port is always available - built in the main unit.

So, what about those DTR, DSR pins? Are they availble in this RB?

I don't think this is going to work.
The RS232 connection on the RB only gives you serial connection to the management interface of RouterOS.
I don't think you would be able to read/write any tcp/ip data to/from the PLC

I've never used it myself, but there's special login, which allows to access connected serial device over network.
