V 6.38.1 (tile) Network Problem

Good afternoon,

I have a segment of mynetowkr that is a flat network with around 200 users (Over 400 devices including switches and AP PTP and PTMP UBNT equipment) Also the CCR hase more clientes on it and currently has ARP table of over 1000 addresses. Users have UBNT radios with a local network address on them and in bridge mode nad a router behind this that gets public IP via DHCP from CCR 1036.

All clients are on same Eth port.

I found that i had to increase ARP table to 16*1024 and have changes icmp-rate-limit to 1000.

Before making these changes I had some probelms:

High ping between devices
High CPU usage on AP's
Loss of comunicacion to the internet for customers.

Could the changes that i have made be the solution of is there something else that I am overlooking?

Thanks

Are you saying that you have a flat L2 network (bridged instead of routed) with 400 devices and an ARP table of more than 1000 entries?

There you have the answer, doesn't have anything to do with your CCR, big networks are routed for a reason...

and no, your changes may have had a placebo effect, or alleviate symptoms, but essentially it will keep performing badly and having service disruption until you redesign it properly.

Hmm worked perfectly well with UBNT Edgepoint Router for the last 4 years.... will be working on deciding the network but this is just one Ethernet port on one router! We have the main network routers with ospf and these are just segments of the network that are bridged.

Let's say it worked, the "perfectly well" part is highly arguable.

This doesn't have anything to do with specific router or OS, is just best practice when designing and deploying networks due to how arp works on a given broadcast domain (L2 segment).

Have a look at http://www.mywisptraining.com/wp-conten ... Routed.pdf

Hi,

i found that your problem even doesn't related with your post title.
High ping between devices
High CPU usage on AP's
Loss of comunicacion to the internet for customers.
please dont bridge them, very bad idea network design you have.
