Multiple VPN clients?

Thu Feb 02, 2017 7:14 pm

Hi There,

I just got a Mikrotik RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN and I have been trying to set it up over the past fews days to possibly have a couple of VPN clients (open to my office and another to the US so that I can use Pandora etc.). I have managed to set up a single VPN for the whole router by following a few guides online but anytime I try to do anything more complex I screw it up and have to restore it to factory settings. I guess I really don't know the terminology to even being investigating fully.

In my head what I want is the following:

- There is an ADSL modem/router connected to my phone socket (I'm in the UK - it is a BTHomeHub).
- I want to connect the Mikrotik to one of the ethernet ports on the ADSL modem/router and then connect everything else either directly to the Mikrotik or first to one of several switches and then the Mikrotik.
- I would like to be able to configure it so that anything attached to one (or more) of the ethernet ports on the Mikrotik can be routed via one of the VPN clients and this is easily changeable.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Sounds confusing...

From my understanding, you want to route everything from a vpn session to a specific port, right? Like a bridge through one vpn end to other?

Can you draw a simple diagram on "mspaint" for us? :P

This is the setup I am looking to create:

I basically want to be able to switch the traffic from a particular room between going "normally" to the Internet, going to my work VPN or to a "USA" VPN. Again, this may not be the optimal solution - I really don't know what would be best.

I work from home so I have to connect to my work VPN fairly frequently and sometimes I need to make use of resources on their network. This has been a particular pain as it is PPTP and it means that I can't connect to it directly with an iOS device. I am hoping that having the VPN at the router level will resolve this. There are plans to update the work VPN to a protocol that iOS supports but there is no date for it to occur.

I also like to be able to use Pandora etc. with my music systems and also with other devices as necessary.

I'm not really sure of the setup at work, I know there are Mikrotik routers internally but I have no idea how everything is actually connected to the Internet.

I'll be upgrading from ADSL as soon as the FTTP comes online =)

This here might be a lot easier? I'm not sure but it might be what your looking for.
