What's new in v3.11:

*) fixed wireless interface tabs, HT MCS tab was not shown in 5g/n/ac mode;
*) ask for confirmation when exiting or disconnecting in Safe Mode;
*) fixed problem where context menu Add command could not be selected if it had submenu;
*) fixed problem where ip accounting settings were allways disabled;

If you experience version related issues, then please report them to support@mikrotik.com.

I believe this is not related to WinBox, rather a limitation of the newer (802.11ac-capable) chipsets or drivers.

raffav - This is due to cache between upgrade server and your computer;
juliokato - We can not reproduce such issue and seems that others does not have it too;
baragoon - This is not supported for ac wireless cards.

I don't seem to be able to launch winbox 3.11 with any comparability setting or none of them? Anyone having that issue?

" ERROR: RoMON Agent not found. Add it to Managed List." Locks out Winbox ! Deleting the MicroTik folder in %appdata% used to fix it. Not now.
Locked out of the entire network on my primary Windoze PC.Adding valid agents does not help.
Also not clear about the Master Password on the Romon Menu. Perhaps that just locks down
Romon for this session/PC? Is this documented anywhere?

Could winbox upgrades could be offered over HTTPS? It's very dangerous to download and automatically run a .exe file over HTTP.

1) when you add or change the comment to the pppoe profile (the account on the pppoe-out) then after saving the comment - the interface is re-connected, why? Is it really so necessary?

2) At the expense of screen resolution, somewhere I read that sometimes I do not have enough, sometimes I will also agree, when I have to go and work remotely through an ultrabook with a resolution of 1366 x 768 - it's not always convenient to work, do not throw the ultrabook into garbage ? Anyone else having issues opening Winbox?

It will open (or if it is already open) and when I swap networks it will hang for a good 5 minutes with "not responding", then it will eventually come up and work, though sometimes it does it again if I hit refresh.

Initially I thought it was doing that because I didn't have an IP address but this is not the case. I've never had this problem on older versions.

I have this issue, and in my case was caused after the update of our ubnt netwotk to v6.0.3, roll back to v5.6.15 and now all is working normal again.

I highly doubt this is a winbox issue. Check your DNS resolver if it can actually resolve the domain.
If it does, can you connect to the IP directly instead of the domain?

Desired behavior of Winbox for fields:
- if there is a default value and the field is left blank on apply, insert default value
- if the field is optional and when the field is left blank on apply, then disable it

This would make RouterOS much easier to use and also reduce the number of forum postings because of surprisingly behavior due to not knowing what the default setting is and an open empty optional field blocking the other settings made.

3.11 connects fine on Windows 10 for me. I've been using it for a bit now. It is probably a poorly handled error. I've seen that before.

i was on an MTCIPv6 course. the slide-deck also says, that Winbox with link-local addresses does work as a substitute for MAC-Winbox, if the device does not have IPv4 address, and indeed it does.
there is however a small issue, and i am not quite sure whether it's a winbox issue or windows issue.

discovery function in winbox is supposed to detect & decode inbound MNDP advertisements. however in ipv6 only setup (windows has no ipv4 enabled) the connected routeros devices are not detected, although the MNDP advertisements are emitted by the device (packet capture shows it clearly).

Winbox has a bug - in Windows 10 64-bit with Anniversary Update cannot click on buttons inside DialogBoxes.

can confirm this bug, though i suspect it's a windows bug rather than winbox.

dialog/confirmation boxes cannot be interacted with on windows 10 creators update. examples of such boxes are "do you want to reboot the router? yes/no", "do you want to upgrade the firmware? yes/no", and even the manual file upload window. even clicking the X to close the window does nothing, you need to manually terminate it from the windows taskbar.
a workaround is performing these from the CLI.

have tried on both my PCs upgrade to the creators update and both reproduce this problem 100% of the time, while my other PCs without the update have no problem whatsoever.

Windows 10 Pro Creator's Edition: When error pops-up, pressing OK button does not do anything and pop-up cannot be closed in any other way than closing Winbox. I have noticed that Winbox works regardless of opened and frozen pop-up in most cases.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have contacted MS support.
it is a known bug and maybe it will be fixed within 30 days.
For now it is recomended downgrading back - control panel, recovery, get back to previsios version of windows 10. (dont know this exactly - translating from cz to en)
It is possible to do it with in 10 days (i think) after upgrade. You can upgrade to newer version when it is fixed.

I would like to request that copying and pasting within winbox (using CTRL+C/CTRL+V) is added. Easier then right clicking and pressing copy and paste every time.

WinBox of course does have keyboard shortcuts for clipboard operations. But it's true that they don't work everywhere.

All kinds of editable fields are fine (simple edits like Address in IP address dialog, editable comboxes like Chain in firewall rules; I'm not sure right now if there are more types).

But there are some places where they don't work:
1) Read-only fields (e.g. in System->Resources dialog). Copy should work, but it doesn't.
2) Terminal. Nothing at all.

Oops, my bad. But that's good news, it means we're almost there. It will be hard to please fans of Ctrl+X/C/V, because Ctrl+X already triggers safe mode and Ctrl+C interrupts actions. But we know there's only one set of true clipboard shortcuts, right?

And Ctrl+Ins and Shift+Del don't conflict with anything.

I've noticed that Winbox doesn't use UTF-8 for comments, although these work well when using SSH, Telnet or even Tik-App on Android.

I use an external API to identify IPs for incoming connections (country, city, company it's registered to) and some of these look unreadable in Winbox.

Can I request a fix for it?

On Windows8 I can run it, but cannot connect to any of my routers, if I try an older version, it says I need to update, which gives me 3.11.. when I try and connect I get the error:

ERROR: no roteros.jg found

Not sure what that means, Google hasn't been forthcoming. Possibly a picture with a typo? routeros.jpg?

I'm able to connect by using my linux machine and wine.. typical that wine is better than windows 8.. but still.

I tried deleting APPDATA/Roaming/Mikrotik folder, no difference.
Can't connect to any of my RB1200 or RB912UAG's or my RB953GS.. hmm.

Feature request: an option to store the session state (window size/pos, column selection/width etc) on the router flash.
Of course it should not include login passwords etc. This would be very useful when managing the same router from
different machines, without mechanism to access the same .viw files from the different machines.

Feature request for Winbox

I would like to see a new feature in Winbox which will allow the following:
1) - Winbox to a Mikrotik
2) - In that Mikrotik, go to IP - Neighbors
3) - When looking at the IP-Neighbors screen , you currently have the option to (Ping, MAC Ping, Telnet, MAC Telnet, Torch).
- - - I would like to see two new options ( Winbox to MAC & Winbox to IP )

Additionally - to the two above requests , is it also possible to have two more options (Proxy Winbox to MAC & Proxy Winbox to IP).
Sometimes, the Windows based computer may not be able to Winbox to a neighbor seen on another Mikrotik. This is where a Proxy Winbox (via the Mikrotik man-in-the-middle) would come in very handy.

To be honest, I have never tested or played with RoMON.
However in my brief reading about RoMON, it appears that RoMON needs to be an enabled service on every Mikrotik (possibly on all networks, including those networks not directly connected to my office network equipment).
I have no idea what effects my entire network would experience if enabled the RoMON service on 1,000+ Mikrotiks.

I think it would be easier to have an option in winbox to use a url something like this: winbox 192.168.56.1 at 10.1.3.55 or winbox 22.22.22.12.34.56 at 172.16.11.30 (or some any combination) - and have the ability for winbox to offer those proxy winbox connections when looking at ip neighbors.
((Interesting old email feature somewhat related - it is possible (with correct server configurations) to send an email with a destination email address like this: somebody@somewhere.com@whoknowswhere.com@wonka.net@44.33.22.11@mydomain.com . This type of an email address allows you to choose the email path for SMTP delivery. I think something like this built natively into Winbox and ROS could be very handy.

I will have to take a closer look at RoMON, however I would like to see a native winbox proxy support in Winbox and ROS without the need to turn on an additional network service in other Mikrotiks.

Yes, also drag and drop column ordering. Either an easy to open widget as pe1chl describes here for selecting columns, or the addition of right click on the columns to get the list.

For example, want to see fcs errors on all interfaces at once? The current interface is especially frustrating for things like this.
After bringing up the interface list and selecting the ethernet tab:
1. click the down arrow
2. hover over show columns
3. struggle/convince the interface to scroll to the bottom of the very long list
4. select the tx column
5. repeat for rx column
Want other rx/tx error types? 10 steps for each of those. Uh-oh! now you have to remove some columns or resize several to see the ones you want because too many are selected...

I'd rather the pain-free alternatives suggested above!

That is of course why I request that feature... it requires a lot of clicking and mouse movement to add or remove a single column, and often you want to do many.
E.g. I often start with removing all FP counter columns because I have FP disabled anyway. Just to make room. And then add suitable columns.
To make it all worse, the settings are per-PC per-router. So my PC at home does not share the settings with the PC at work (see other request above) and for each router I manage on either PC I need to re-do those settings. Maybe it would be possible to copy some .viw at the beginning, but there is nothing to make a change to a bunch of sessions at the same time.
So I feel I waste a lot of time on interface customization, and everything that helps reduce that would be welcome.

Dear developers, faced with such a problem. Occasionally it is necessary to maintain router installed far and working on satellite communications.
The connection is stable (at 100 ping only 1-2 loss), but the speed is very slow - from 750мс to 2500мс. And the problem is,
when connected to the router via Winbox you should maybe just 5-10 seconds to do the Disconnect, but maybe after 40-60 sec.
And so, intermittently and continuously. This is very annoying.

Immediately anticipate Your questions:
Routers model 952 (them more ten), these problems were there and on 6.38.5 and on and on 6.40.2 and 6.40.3. Winbox 3.11, also tried with different systems(OS Wins), and with different providers.
And more proof that the problem is in the connection Protocol Winbox - launched session via SSH service to routers - more than 6 hours and the session is not impacted.
Therefore, please perform all this if possible, and adjust for Winbox connection timeout on the gap bigger.

Addition:
on 3 different remote routers configured tunnels (GRE) to the Central router and inside the tunnels allowed different IP traffic. Traffic was not interrupted, everything worked normally. BUT the connection to the routers(via Winbox) for the remote IP addressing through the tunnels - the same as it was, was a spontaneous disconnect even inside the tunnel.
From this we can draw conclusions that other IP protocols are not affected and work correctly, and only the connection Protocol to the routers somehow sensitive either to speed or to delay, or something inside Winbox broke.

I have a dozen or so RB3011 routers in service and have GRE tunnels to each from our main location. But when I open Winbox there are a couple of routers that do not show up in my router list, either by MAC or IP address. As far as I can tell they are set up like all of the rest, but those two don't show up in the list. I can access either router by IP address if I type it in and login and communicate with them just fine, but no matter how many times i refresh the list the two routers do no show up.

WinBos 3.11
All routers have 6.40.0 firmware
win 10 and win 7 pro machines.

Any ideas?

I never knew different than that I need to manually add all routers that are not local to the network... I would be surprised when they show up automatically being behind GRE tunnels.
I just type the input fields one time and do add/set and it is in the list.

I have no idea. None of my non-local routers show up in my neighbors list automatically.
The only situation where I could see that happen is when EoIP is used. Not with GRE.

WinBox 3.11 together with ROS 6.40.4 doesn't show hardware acceleration flag on the: "IP -> IPsec -> Installed SAs"
WebFig does.

The interfaces that you need the router to be found on should not be in list as discovery=no.

/ip neighbor discovery print

will print you all interfaces with their status as to if discovery is enabled on them or not. change the settings to suit your needs.

One thing is winbox able to find router: This is IP Discover.
If winbox traffic will be accepted after klicking or manualy trying to connect is another one.

IP - /ip service (enabled) and perhaps restricted. User maybe ip restricted. (IP Firewal rules inbound, related established outbound)
MAC - tool macserver check settings here. no firewall here but due to mac bridged segment only.

If you don't solve it create a new thread posting your configs so we may help you with your specific problem that is not related to this winbox version.

Hi,
reporting same error as #41, #45, #46 and many others: some popups are not clickable - cant click yes/no, neither close the popup. Running Winbox 3.11 on Windows 10 Pro x64 (15063.632)

According to #49, MS promised the fix but it didnt arrive yet. (has been several month, guess no fix from MS will come ever).

Personally, I believe it is in Mikrotik's hands to fix this. Apparently they use some unusual api because this is the only app I use which is affected since creators update. In addition, most of boxes inside winbox work. Only some (question-style-popups) do not. This suggests that implementing all popups same way will make things work again. Did anyone get official statement from mikrotik in regards to this issue?

I can't figure out how to winbox to my Mikrotik router (OS 6.38.1 Routerboard RB435G) There is no 'search' or '...' next to 'connect to' --- everything I read seems to state this exists, but I don't see it. I've tried via router IP, but nothing. I'm connecting via laptop/RJ45 ... and have the wifi turned off. I can get a MAC under the 'neighbors' tab, but doesn't connect to that MAC.
IF I can get in, I think I can get my LIFX bulbs to work. I think because it's hanging off my cable modem, it's in bridged mode and isn't handing out DHCP... there might be a UDP Port that needs to be open too (57900?)
IF anyone out there can lend some advice, that will save me throwing this thing in the garbage and buying a new one at Best Buy that has an interface I can access and configure.

Strangely enough, today the winbox 3.11 was reported as virus form Avira, containing traces of TR/AD.Swrort.absza. This has to be a false positive, I have being using winbox 3.11 since when it came out with the same antivirus protection. An update of Avira might have caused the problem.

winbox stopped seeing my Mikrotik devices ipv6 addresses in neighbor tab. I used to be able to login with the ipv6 address and did so just for the fun of it. This happened once before and resolved on reboot of my hEX router. It did not resolve this time with a reboot.There have been no configuration changes made by me, those v6 addresses just stopped showing up in winbox its own. ipv6 is still working fine. I have not lost any functionality using only the v4 login, but I would like to know why it is no longer an option. When i put link local address in the connect to field in brackets I can connect fine. So, I was wondering what gives.

Thanks for great app but sometimes the app just freezes for no reason and I have to force quit it. Sometimes it freezes when copying or cutting text (eg. in the script editor). Sometimes it continues to allow me to open windows and click buttons but then after a while I realise it has crapped out. Sometimes L2 discovery doesn't work when I launch the app. Sometimes my saved routers just don't work. Whenever I enter an incorrect password (or the app crashes) the entire app quits and I have to relaunch the app in Wine, retype the router IP, etc.
How to get Winbox running more acceptably in Wine on Mac OS?

Having trouble since a couple of days ago sorting saved routers by "Note" column. Using winbox 3.11 on Win7, but being using it like this for a long time and did not have this issue. Now that I'm trying to add a new router and a note for it, will put it always last, unless I add a 0 before the note will bring it to the top.
What might be causing it?

You clicked on the Note header to cause it to be sorted by Note.
Click on the column header you want to use for sorting, you can sort on 2 different colums this way.
This is indicated by the arrow in the column header.

It is not that. The sorting on the Note column somehow is not behaving as it should. Even if I go and click on Group column, which is empty and click on Note it still puts the new entry at the bottom, where it shouldn't be.
