951G-2HnD config

Sat Apr 08, 2017 1:30 am

I want to use this as an access point and switch feeding a gateway PC that connects to the Internet.

I gave the ether1 port a fixed IP on my network and connected devices on my network to the remaining ports; then it seemed that I had to select 'PTP Bridge' for them to communicate successfully. So now all good except for the wired connections, but the wireless connection does not communicate.

In the WinBox app I don't recognize any parameters as a red flag except selecting Bridge from the list on the left size, then the Ports tab, wlan1 shows "I - inactive" and "disabled port".

Thanks for guidance...

John

You need to go to the wireless menu item and then the interfaces tab and enable the wireless and setup SSID and password etc.

Thanks, chippers. Figured I was alone in the forest so appreciate knowing there's another human around.

SSID has been set for a long time as well as psw. You'll have to give me one more nudge regarding how to actually enable it.

At Wireless->Interfaces I see ARP which is enabled and Mode which is bridge and the rest of the items are kinda vanilla wifi things like 'band' that can't be changed or shouldn't keep it from working, afaik. The first parameter on the line is S for Slave.

I did go to the Freq Usage tab and clicked 'Start' which started a flurry of activity on various channels - seems like essential - but under Bridge->ports wlan1 is still I=Inactive and role=disabled port.

My next concern is that Wireless->Connect list has a zero MAC address.

Mode should be "AP Bridge".

NetJohn maybe try this: add new bridge
add static ip on bridge - to acces router in this ip. add all interfaces you want + wlan on this bridge. remove all other and try again.
as i understand dhcp server is on pc, right?

Mode should be "AP Bridge".
Don't see where that's a choice. Quick Set gives CAP, CPE, HOME AP, PTP BRIDGE, WISP AP.
IIRC if I select HOME AP I lose connectivity between the ethernet ports and the gateway

Quick Set offers Client/CPE or Server/AP; I've selected the latter.

Got to admit I don't use quickset, nor WebFig much. The 'Mode' column and setting when you click on Wireless, should be 'ap bridge'.

Don't see where that's a choice. Quick Set gives...
If you use QuickSet you cannot use any other menu. You can use QuickSet for a quick initial configuration, but as soon as you make any change outside of QuickSet you can no longer use QuickSet safely.
