BGP advertisements

Mon Apr 10, 2017 10:55 am

hi all,

i have only simple question, why is that Mikrotik BGP advertise network even though it is not on its routing table? did they make it on purpose?

As per cisco "The minimum requirement for a prefix configured under the network command to be installed in a BGP table is to have a component route in the IP routing table."
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/do ... -noad.html

Thanks guys!

Check in BGP instance what it's redistributing.

Hello it's a behavior you can override if you want to. Set the synchronize attribute of the network statement to "yes" and it'll behave like usual, requiring you to have a route in the routing table for it to advertise.

I find the ability to do this quite useful.
