Hello people. I was reading and re-reading the mikrotik wiki to setup user manager in order to develop in my wireless network some kind of user authentication and time control.
Let me give you a short scenario of my network:
ISP => Eth0 (WAN) Mikrotik (routerboard 500a) => Eth1 LAN (DHCP server 192.168.0/24) => Access Points => clients
So, i followed the wiki in this step i had the problem. I use the User Manager/DHCP Example. I supposed that the DHCP server lease an IP to the client, but when the user open a browser it will ask for a username and password. But the DHCP doesn´t lease any IP address. I followed with the investigation and then i added a router and then a username, but what i saw is that the username should be with the mac address of the client and without password. After that i get the IP address. if i enter a password i didn´t receive an IP.
I don´t want to bore you but can someone give me an idea how could i setup this in order to create users (with usernames, not mac address, cause i dont now the mac address of the new clients) and lease them an IP but if they want to connect to the internet they will need to enter a valid username and password.
Thanks to all
