is it one of these cards?

* Quicknet LineJACK or PhoneJACK analog telephony cards
* ISDN cards
* Voicetronix OpenLine4 (was V4PCI) - 4 analog telephone lines cards
* Zaptel Wildcard X100P IP telephony card - 1 analog telephone line

if not, don't hope for it. plus in RouterOSv3 we have dropped telephony altogether

Yes in deed the card is X100p but i think you dont understood the problem is even with no card in the router the telephony is still not working ( Gatekeeper , VoIP port ) . There is no connection with the card . this card was tested long time ago with 2.9.1 and was functioning fine ... thing here is even if i do not use the card nothing of the telephony features can be used the just do nothing please help ... Am I the only person having tis problem ?

Apparently you are the only person trying to use this feature. Due to little demand, and complicated maintenance needs, Mikrotik no longer support it. If it works, you can use it, but at your own risk. If it does not work, MikroTik will not be able to help.

the funniest answer ever

this is not a serious answer ... and it is more than redculous ... WHERE IS THE OFFICIAL NOTE THAT MT IS NO LONGER SUPPORTING TELEPHONY AND WHAT ABOUT IF I BOUGHT A LICENSE INTENDING TO USE ONLY THAT FEATURE OF MT ...
THIS IS NOT RIGHT

That's not really nice Normis, I'd have to agree with that...

If it's no longer supported, why no mention in a change log? Why hasn't the web site been updated?

If it worked in the past, why all of a sudden doesn't it work now? If it's used so rarely, the only thing that could have broken it was MT doing code upgrades on other things...

If MT is going to take the "if it doesn't work tuff" attitude, then I really don't know... It's your product, support it for crying out loud!

telephony is supported in 2.9.x ... but you read the release notes for 3.x and it specifically says its being removed.

Yes, I saw that it was getting dropped in 3.x in the change logs too.

I was hoping it was making way for SIP support :D

it is mentioned in the changelog. if you see that we are removing it in the next version, you should understand our priorities for it.

2.9.X

ISN'T 2.9.31 , 2.9.34 equal to 2.9.X ????
If you say it i supported where is the support ?
Should i write to support@mikrotik.com!
I am afraid not to get same answer like the one in the begginnig of this conversation .

Help me please !!!

I think Normis is trying to say that Telephony is not a dedicated router operation in the scheme of things, therefore will be dropped altogether in he new release. It has been common knowledge amongst avid Mikrotik users that this was the case. Try "asterisk at home", Now called Trixbox. Google for it, that's what our business uses for VoIP etc and it also supports a wide range of cards for FXO etc.

Neither is proxy servers, DNS Servers, or Radius Servers (such as user manager). Those are applications on its own, hardly the function of a router :roll:

It's really a shame to see that MT won't support their very own products. 2.9.x is still the active version, 2.9.x is still supported. This attitute stinks.

Indeed, Proxy, DNS, Radius etc are not routing protocols as such, but without DNS there is no internet resolution, without radius there is no authentication, and all routers are proxy's in one way or another - that is all routers proxy data from one network to the next through a single point weather its specifically HTTP proxy or just a gateway.

As for support for telephony, I cannot remember where it is stated but i have read that it is about to be dropped before encountering this forum post. Still it should be supported until it is actually dropped altogether.

it's not dropped out of 2.9, it is still working for most people. what i was saying is - if there is a problem with your specific setup, and there is some bug in the telephony package - we will not be able to help you because we have not updated the package since 2.8 I think. we have no specialists in this field.
