2.8.18 Way Slow whats up?

Sat Oct 23, 2004 9:32 pm

hello all

got a wierd problem.(2.8.18 version and i have tried this on 3 different motherboards , with with a 333p2 , p4 2.0 cel and a p4 1mb 2.4,with dlink nics and realtek ,also some other brands . so i have done some home work on this! thought it was all me at first .

went thru thinking it was the nics at first . so i ordered the ones MT recommends . they did same thing.

i have 3 MT routers . 2 with 8 nics work like a charms (2.8.15)
and my 3rd was for testing with only 4 nics in it . was on version 2.8.15 worked fine . until i upgraded it 2 beta4 didnt work was extremly slow and very intermitent with regards to connection. sometimes i could conect (this not the wireless side just Lan to Wan) so i wiped it clean and went to 2.8.16 worked fine again.
keep in mind this is with no fancy routing setup just src-nat to a test computer on my test bench. very simple setup.

went to 2.8.17 had same issues as with the beta. spent many hours looking over issue and finally gave up and went back to 2.8.16

IS there some issues with the newer version on MT that are not yet FIXED ??

signed Deeply confused

Randy

I had similar issues with 2.8.17, I loaded wireless-legacy and it sorted out all of my problems.
I have not yet tested with 2.8.18 but presume that my findings will be the same.

I had to upgrade to 2.8.18 to get the InterEpoch radios to work and the upgrade has slowed the 5.8 link to the main tower. I tryed loading the wireless-legacy and rebooted but that DID NOT do a thing. Speed still sucks!

Can someone please tell me what the *ell is going on. And how I can fix this problem.

Jober please see my reply in the other topic, I upgraded 1 of my live routers yesterday from 2.8.17 to 2.8.18, the only thing that I seem to have done differently to you guys is that I actually did first remove wireless and then installed wireless-legacy (please see http://www.mikrotik.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4634#4634)
I have tested throughput on my 2.4 and 5.8G links and the speed is what it was before.

I only upgraded 1 router which intern connects to another router on version 2.8.17 so perhaps that is why I am still getting good speeds. If I get brave enough I might upgrade one of the other routers to 2.8.18 and let you know my findings.
